Homebot is a Homeownership Platform for Lenders, Real Estate & Insurance Agents that drives client retention and referrals. Homebot’s “special sauce” is that it helps homeowners and homebuyers (aka: our customer’s clients) to build wealth through homeownership. Our customers include Mortgage Lenders, Real Estate Agents, Banks, Credit Unions, Loan Servicers, Insurance agencies and Title Companies.
Our Finance team is growing and we’re in need of a detail-oriented, dependable, and customer-focused Senior Accountant to increase our level of trust in our numbers and confidence in decision-making!

This is a full-time position based in our Denver, CO office (currently downtown and moving to the RiNo neighborhood in July or August). We have a hybrid work model in place. Our G&A team is in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Compensation: We are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry standards. We analyze and carefully consider several factors when determining compensation, including skills, qualifications and professional experience, which can cause your compensation to vary. This role has an annual targeted base salary range of $90,000 - $110,000, plus an annual 10% performance bonus target.

The impact you’ll make by joining us:
Within 1 month you will:
- Take full ownership of payroll, AP, AR, and the monthly close process
- Review current reporting packages and help prep actuals vs. budget summaries for department leads
- Get up to speed on our systems, customers, chart of accounts, SaaS revenue model, and key processes
Within 3 months you will:
- Own monthly financial reporting from close through final board-ready reporting
- Lead audit prep and take the front line with auditors and tax providers
Within 6 months you will:
- Improve close timelines and help automate recurring reporting tasks
- Build new tools or templates to help department leads understand budget vs. actuals
- Partner with leadership to implement new policies or controls as we scale
Within 1 year you will:
- Deliver a clean audit and help document controls and policies for the next phase of growth
- Be the go-to resource on all things accounting—revenue, payroll, AP/AR, tax, audit, and systems
- Help evaluate or implement systems that improve accuracy, transparency, and efficiency across the organization
Who You’ll Collaborate With:
- This role will report to COO, Michael Lynch and a future VP of Finance or CFO
- You will work closely with Sales, Marketing, R&D, CS, and G&A teams
What You Bring:
- Degree in accounting or finance; CPA a plus
- 4-6 years of professional accounting experience
- Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP; ASC 606 required
- Comfortable using a lot of systems at once, and have the ability to learn software quickly (experience with Intacct a plus)
- Advanced MS Excel skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Start-up/growth-stage company experience strongly desired
Bonus Points:
- Experience with SaaS metrics and revenue recognition, including deferred revenue, subscription billing, and ASC 606
- Prior experience in a startup or high-growth environment where you’ve built or improved processes without dropping the ball on core accounting tasks
Characteristics of a Homebot Staff Accountant

- Highly effective planning, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
- Strong sense of teamwork by maintaining trustful relationships with internal and external stakeholders, while also ensuring accurate and timely reporting
What You’ll Be Accountable For:
- Deliver best-of-breed accounting practices by maintaining the general ledger, leading the monthly close, preparing journal entries, and producing financial statements, bank reconciliations and balance sheet schedules (including fixed assets, accruals and prepaids)
- Prepare monthly budget vs. actual results to management and departmental leads, with clear summaries and insights
- Own the annual financial audit end to end - manage auditor requests, prepare workpapers, and ensure timely, accurate delivery of all supporting documentation
- Manage all aspects of payroll, including regular processing, compensation adjustments (e.g. bonuses, leave, terminations), and compliance with state and federal requirements
- Assist with preparation and review of sales and use tax returns filings, registrations and compliance
- Manage Accounts Payable process including invoice collection, payment processing, vendor 1099s, and expense reporting
- Lead customer invoicing, revenue recognition (ASC 606), and and follow-up on aged receivables
- Help document, implement and maintain appropriate accounting policies, processes and internal controls as the company continues to scale
- Streamline systems and processes to drive efficiencies and automation within the financial reporting lifecycle
