York Space Systems LLC is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our finance team based in our Greenwood Village office. You will have the unique opportunity to partner across functions to support York’s growth and success.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with all elements of the financial close process to ensure a timely close including:
    • Preparation of month-end journal entries
    • Preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations
    • Preparation of variance analyses
    • Preparation of management reporting
  • Primary area of focus to start will be payroll accounting and its associated reporting
    • Facilitate the collection of time cards in ERP system
      • Spearhead the transition to time card reporting in payroll system
    • Reconcile payroll reporting
    • Allocate payroll expense to projects
    • Provide management reporting for payroll expense, timecard reporting, and headcount
  • Support implementing best-in-class practices for accounting processes as we transition to a new ERP system
    • Fully train on current ERP and new ERP system
    • Support the implementation of new ERP system
      • Focus on integration with payroll system to create efficiencies
  • Coordinate with others to resolve discrepancies between different modules of the ERP system (i.e., inventory, COGS, and accounts payable across multiple locations)
    • Determine the root cause, and consider corrective actions
  • Actively participate and contribute to all required audits, management & investor reporting, and tax filings so that they are completed by established deadlines
    • Investigate and resolve audit findings, account discrepancies, and issues of non-compliance
  • Continuously find ways to improve departmental quality through creating efficiencies, streamlining repetitive processes, and utilizing technology
  • Cross train to be back up for teammates when they are out of office
  • Perform other accounting duties and support finance team members as required or assigned

  • Expected to work on site at least 8 hours a day

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and a minimum of five (5) years of relevant, progressive accounting experience required
  • Big 4 accounting experience preferred
  • CPA license preferred
  • Expertise in ERP systems required, multiple ERP systems a plus, ERP implementation experience a plus
  • Knowledge of accounting for a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience with payroll accounting a plus
  • Experience with project-based accounting a plus
  • Expertise in the use of Microsoft Excel and other software programs available to maximize efficiency required
  • Strong knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) required
  • Ability to prioritize workload, and meet multiple deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced, frequently changing environment with little to no supervision required
  • Detail orientation and problem-solving skills required
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate successfully with people at many levels within the company required
