Your Opportunity 

Reporting directly to the Director of Marketing, Buildings and with a strong alliance to the Business Line/Sector Leadership, the SMM provides marketing management and strategic expertise to the Sector leadership team to ensure understanding of the strategic direction for the Sector, and to develop and deliver the annual integrated marketing and business development plan to elevate market brand awareness for the sector and achieve the Sector’s financial and market leadership goals.  Through a team of marketing professionals, the SMM works with regional/local leadership and practitioners to establish the desired market position within the Sector, identify market opportunities and create comprehensive marketing strategies across various platforms to raise brand awareness and position Stantec as a must have partner.

Success is represented by the development of Stantec’s perception with key clients, building the firm’s reputation, and our success at winning work. The role also includes working with a larger Stantec team of Marketing, Business Development, Public Relations and Communications professionals to build our brand awareness and identify and position for market opportunities for top line growth.

Your Key Responsibilities

Brand Management, Content, and Promotions
 

  • Responsible for the sector’s brand positioning and promotional strategies
  • Develop annual marketing plan, in support of the sector business plan, and execute on it in collaboration with Marketing FST and Corporate Marketing partners
  • Lead awards strategy for the sector, including identifying important programs, and coordinating with the team to complete award submissions and related presentations
  • Lead photography strategy for the sector, including identifying high value projects, and coordinating with the practice and the Marketing FST team to secure photography assets
  • Responsible for sector representation on Stantec.com, including quarterly review and regular refresh of material
  • Create sector-specific marketing collateral to help sell our team and services, including but not limited to capability brochures, look books, PowerPoint decks – with all materials made available on our internal network for easy distribution and sharing
  • Provide sector marketing strategy for targeted publications, social media, digital campaigns, thought leadership, webinars, paid and organic ads, promotional material, etc., working closely with Marketing FST and Corporate Marketing partners.
  • Lead tradeshow/conference presence and marketing strategy for the sector
  • Partner with Public Relations to elevate the sector and Stantec brand through external communications
  • Partner with Corporate Communications to create sector-specific communications to be shared via our intranet and other internal resources as needed
  • Collaborate with Buildings Digital Practice to represent the sector on the Buildings Information Center (BIC)
  • Promote the consistent use of Stantec MCPR tools – i.e. SMKC, Pipeline, etc., regularly contributing and updating sector-specific materials and content
  • Contribute to sector-related video initiatives
  • Evaluates client survey feedback and incorporates insights into ongoing marketing/positioning activities.

Marketing Strategy Support and Implementation

  • Track market trends, conduct competitor analysis, and disseminate insights for business development strategies, in partnership with our Market Research partners.
  • Supports pursuit decision-making, including Go/No Go processes, and contributing to win strategies for high value opportunities, in partnership with the Pursuits team
  • Supports client engagement strategies, tracking key client pursuits, and targeting “must-win” projects, in partnership with the Pursuits team
  • Supports Pipeline data integrity, tracking, and reporting 
  • Work in partnership with the Pursuits team to ensure sector key clients are represented and appropriately staffed (Account Manager, Sponsor, and Marketing Support) through our Account Management program
  • Participates in firmwide and multi-sector initiatives beyond marketing and business development – i.e. branding and promotional campaigns

Marketing Team Leadership 

  • Demonstrate teamwork with BL/SL Leadership, Account Managers, Practice Leadership, Local Leadership, Pursuits and Marketing Leadership
  • Function as a knowledge resource and marketing strategy leader for the sector, as well as marketing and pursuit team partners. 
Qualifications

Capabilities and Credentials

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of marketing and business development best practice
  • Detail oriented and organized, with exceptional prioritization skills 
  • Ability to effectively balance conflicting priorities 
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior management, supervisors, peers, and clients, internally and externally
  • Commitment to client service and ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Working knowledge in the use of desktop publishing software such as InDesign, Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, etc.
  • Strong presentation skills in small or large group environments, with proficiency in presentation support tools (e.g., PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated proficiency with web-based tools and Microsoft Office applications including but not limited to Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.
  • Awareness that ongoing training may involve professional development courses in the evenings or on weekends
  • Awareness that attendance of trade and industry association events, and networking with marketing peers at identified teaming partner firms could be required

Education/Experience:

  • Post-Secondary in business, sales and/or marketing 
  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in a senior marketing role in a medium to large-sized organization.

About the Team
Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.

Benefits Summary: Regular full-time and part-time employees (working at least 20 hours per week) have access to medical, dental, and vision plans, a wellness program, health saving accounts, flexible spending accounts, 401(k) plan, employee stock purchase program, life and accidental death & dismemberment (AD&D) insurance, short-term/long-term disability plans, emergency travel benefits, tuition reimbursement, professional membership fee coverage and paid family leave. Regular full-time and part-time employees will receive ten paid holidays in each calendar year. In addition, employees will be eligible to accrue vacation between 10 and 20 days per year and eligible for paid sick leave (and if more generous, in accordance with state and local law).

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
