Founding SDR, Independent Schools (Remote, US)
About the Company
Our client is a venture-backed EdTech company building secure, AI-powered learning infrastructure for schools. Their platform gives students personalized learning support around the clock, grounded in their own course content, while protecting trust, outcomes, and academic integrity. It integrates directly with existing Learning Management Systems and meets the privacy and security standards schools require (FERPA, SOC 2). The platform is already used by tens of thousands of students across more than 100 campuses, and independent, peer-reviewed research has shown measurable gains in student academic performance. The company is backed by leading impact and early-stage investors.
About the Role
Our client is opening a new market, private and independent high schools, and this role is how they’ll open it. The segment is built for outbound: thousands of reachable schools, one decision maker per school, no board budget cycle to wait on, and a sales cycle measured in months rather than quarters. As one of the first two SDRs focused on this segment, you’ll build the account map, run a phone-first outbound motion, and turn that list into a predictable flow of qualified meetings for their Account Executives.
What You’ll Do
Phone-First Outbound
Live on the phone. This is the channel for this segment, and the first stretch of the job is genuinely dialing for dollars
Reach the one person who decides at each school, usually the principal, head of school, or IT director
Hold real conversations with educators who are busy, skeptical, and not expecting your call
Back up the phone with personalized email and LinkedIn outreach that earns a reply
Territory & Account Strategy
Build and maintain a tiered, named account map of private high schools that fit their platform
Research each school’s context (curriculum, tech stack, budget cycle, academic integrity posture) and identify decision makers
Keep account coverage and status current and clear in the CRM
Pipeline Handoff
Generate qualified meetings and opportunities for their Account Executives
Qualify rigorously enough that AEs want more of your meetings, not fewer
Partner with AEs and marketing on what’s converting and what isn’t
Building the Motion
Build AI-assisted workflows for research, list-building, number sourcing, and call sequencing
Document the openers, sequences, and objection handling that actually produce meetings
Share what works so the next SDR cohort ramps faster
What They’re Looking For
Must-Haves
2+ years of outbound SDR/BDR experience, consistently hitting or exceeding monthly qualified meeting targets
Significant cold calling experience and a genuine appetite for the phone
Resilience through high-volume rejection and low connect rates without a drop in output or tone
Strong written communication: specific, short, and free of vendor-speak
Demonstrated use of AI tools to multiply your output, with judgment about what to verify before it reaches a prospect
Comfort prospecting into senior stakeholders and navigating institutional decision-making
Nice-to-Haves
Experience selling into independent high schools, K-12, higher education, or other education institutions
Experience selling AI, analytics, or learning technology
Experience at an early-stage or high-growth company, especially opening a new segment

The playbook you write is the one their team will run for years. They’re looking for someone who brings persistence, professionalism, and real care for the educators on the other end of the phone.
