Position Summary 
The Scientist I, under moderate supervision, supports investigational studies that utilize tissue-based assays and
computational analysis tools. The Scientist I will work closely with laboratory operations, image analysis (IA), pathology and data science to apply spatial biology approaches to address critical drug development issues and improve precision medicine and biomarker development within oncology, immunology or neuromuscular disease. The Scientist I will have demonstrated experience in quantitative image analysis techniques. This is a position where development of scientific design, client facing interactions, internal teamwork skills, and workflow process understanding are fundamental. The individual in this role will possess a wide range of skills including experimental planning and study design, IHC and related assay development experience, image analysis, data interpretation, and scientific communication and reporting.

Essential Job Functions
Work with interdisciplinary teams to develop intricate knowledge of tissue assay design, image analysis, and
clinical trial studies
Develop tissue-based assays and IA solutions in collaboration with appropriate internal departments to
support studies under Flagship’s Quality System
Quality control, interpret, provide and present data and information in support of client projects
Write project study plans and reports in collaboration with project team members
Take an active role in process improvement and innovation
Write clear and concise reports for internal dissemination and contribute to patents, white papers,
publications, posters and other scientific communications as requested
Stay current on literature reports and technological developments relevant to the field
Work with immediate supervisor to set priorities and self-manage time to ensure assignments remain on
schedule
Travel to client sites and scientific meetings on a limited basis (<10%)
Other duties, projects as assigned 

Basic Qualifications
Ph.D. in one of biological sciences
1-3 years of post-doctoral or relevant industry experience in oncology, immunology or muscle biology
Experience developing IHC or multiplex immunofluorescence assays

Ability to effectively communicate experimental design and results to team members and management
Ability to clearly articulate, discuss and debate issues critical to ensuring technical progress
Capable of making technical presentations to clients and internal teams 
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
Must be able to use a computer for extended periods of time
High attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, changing environment, both independently and as part of a team
Fluent in English, both verbal and written
Ability to travel to client sites and scientific meetings on a limited basis (<10%)
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Aperio, Definiens, Matlab, ImageJ or other tissue-based image analysis software preferred
Experience with multiomic or spatial biology technologies such as Nanostring, 10X or other related technologies
