BitPay, Inc. is looking for a highly motivated Sanctions Lead to join our Financial Crimes Compliance team and play an important role in shaping our compliance programs and the day-to-day operations of the sanctions policies and procedures ensuring BitPay remains at the forefront of compliance in the crypto space.

As a key leader, you will shape our sanctions compliance operations in a rapidly evolving industry, working closely with the Chief Compliance Officer, regulators, external partners, and internal teams across all functions. Your leadership will be critical in fostering strong cross-functional communication, cultivating a compliance-first culture to support the company’s growth.

 Responsibilities:

Sanctions Compliance Operations

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of US and global sanctions laws and regulations.
  • Draft and maintain sanctions program and standard operating procedures with input from key stakeholders, promoting cross-functional alignment. 
  •  Lead daily sanctions operations including list screening and investigations using various compliance tools. 
  • Conduct sanctions testing and tuning to ensure adequate screening logic.  
  • Lead sanctions model validation in line with NYDFS 504 requirements. 
  • Assist management with any applicable sanctions reporting.
  • Communicate sanctions requirements with cross functional stakeholders to ensure sanctions compliance, fostering collaborative relationships. 
  • Assist with the sanctions risk assessment. 
  • Conduct sanctions training across the company to ensure adequate knowledge of laws and regulations.
     

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of sanctions compliance operations experience, including list screening and investigations. 
  • Experience with using industry leading sanctions screening systems. 
  • Strong communication skills across various levels of an organization. 
  • High level of integrity and professional judgment in handling compliance matters.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proven ability to handle complex compliance issues.
  • Accountability and initiative in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Team-oriented with a focus on supporting collective success.
  • Crypto industry experience is highly preferred. 
  • Proficiency with Google suite products. 
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
  • CAMs or CGSS 
  • Located within the United States
