Summary of Role:
As an IHS Markit Consulting Engineer your primary directive will be to deploy, configure, troubleshoot, and validate Knowledge Management solutions both on-premise and cloud environments. You will also be involved in the pre-sale, requirements gathering, solution definition, system requirements process. You will need to understand the technical requirements necessary to meet the customers’ needs and expectations and will help translate these requirements into a set of specifications and success criteria. In this capacity you will be accountable for successful delivery of contracted services in a manner consistent with agreed upon timelines, deliverables and quality standards. You will work closely with Client IT and Business associates along with other IHS Markit team members.
General Job Duties:
The IHS Markit Consulting Engineer is accountable for implementing Knowledge Management software and services solutions to meet customers’ needs. Services Consulting Engineer activities include:
- Studying customer data repositories, information needs, end user knowledge requirements and work processes
- Defining solutions, help detail technical requirements and work required to meet customer needs
- Evaluating Clients data sources and connectivity requirements
- Support Clients IT department with environment setup and configuration
- Generating system design specifications and developing custom software
- Preparing, installing, troubleshooting and testing final solution in the customers’ environment
- Leading remote and on-site product training sessions for both users and administrators
- Collaboration with Account Management during the sales process to understand customers’ knowledge management needs, pain points and business objectives
Specific Job Duties:
- Engage with customers onsite and remotely to assess customer data repositories, end-user information needs, deploy and configure software, validate and troubleshoot data source connectivity, validate system performance
- Collaborate with IHS Markit Project Managers to document statements of work (SOWs) that contractually represent the end solution and associated software and services pricing
- Participate in pre-sales meetings to present IHS Markit Knowledge Management software and services capabilities
- Participate in routine customer project status meetings
Required Education
- Associate degree or equivalent work experience in computer hardware, software, networking or IT
Required Experience:
- 3-5 years with installation, setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of enterprise class software
- Windows Desktop and Server experience
- Working knowledge of networking, storage, security, access, and identity systems
- Experience on Cloud Platforms like AWS, Azure
- Understanding of PLM systems, SharePoint, or other content management systems
- HTML, JavaScript or general web development skills for creating user interfaces a plus
- Relational databases and practical experience with SQL a plus

- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to identify solutions independently
- Excellent presentation skills for audiences of varying sizes both internally and externally (customer facing)
- Expertise with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Powerpoint and Word)
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in support of strategic and large value accounts
- Experience with engineering tools such as CAD, PLM and document systems such as Documentum, SharePoint a plus
