As a Sales Representative at Steffes Group, Inc., you serve as a trusted advisor to sellers and a key driver of company growth. This role is responsible for identifying and securing auction opportunities, managing seller relationships from initial contact through settlement, and collaborating cross-functionally to deliver successful auction outcomes. Sales Representatives are expected to represent Steffes Group with integrity, professionalism, and a strong understanding of the auction process while consistently growing their territory and personal book of business. This is a field-based, relationship-driven sales role, not an inside sales or desk-based position.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development & Territory Growth

  • Actively prospect, develop, and maintain a strong network of relationships with farmers, contractors, landowners, bankers, equipment dealers, attorneys, appraisers, crop insurance agents, and other industry professionals
  • Proactively generate new auction opportunities through cold calling, in-person visits, referrals, and ongoing market awareness
  • Develop and execute a territory strategy focused on long-term growth and sustained seller relationships
  • Build, manage, and maintain a healthy pipeline using CRM and pipeline management tools to support sales forecasting and performance

Seller Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for sellers throughout the auction lifecycle, from initial conversation through final settlement and beyond
  • Educate sellers on Steffes Group’s auction process, timelines, and expectations to ensure clarity and confidence
  • Negotiate auction agreements and pricing in alignment with company guidelines and market conditions

Auction Planning & Execution

  • Travel to auction sites to evaluate assets and support operations team in taking photos and gathering accurate details for listings
  • Partner closely with administrative, marketing, and operations teams to ensure assets are properly described, staged, marketed, and ready for sale day
  • Support live and online auction events as needed to ensure smooth, professional auction experience
  • Travel extensively within assigned territory to meet sellers, evaluate assets, and support auction execution

Technology, CRM & Sales Process Discipline

  • Consistently use company CRM and sales technology tools to track leads, manage opportunities, forecast pipeline activity, and document seller interactions
  • Maintain accurate, timely records related to sellers, assets, agreements, and auction details
  • Leverage technology and data to prioritize outreach, manage follow-ups, and drive performance

Collaboration & Internal Alignment

  • Work closely with other Sales Representatives to share knowledge, assist with overflow auctions, and support team success
  • Maintain consistent, proactive communication with internal teams to ensure deadlines, milestones, and expectations are met
  • Uphold and model Steffes Group values in all internal and external interactions

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

  • Consistently generate new business and grow personal sales volume year-over-year
  • Demonstrate accountability for assigned performance, seller satisfaction, and auction outcomes
  • Represent Steffes Group professionally in the community, at industry events, and on auction sites
Qualifications and Benefits

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • General knowledge of agricultural or construction equipment, land, and/or related assets is required
  • Background in agriculture and/or construction, sales, business development, or a related field is strongly preferred
  • Previous experience in a relationship-driven, field-based sales role is preferred
  • Familiarity with auction processes and procedures is a plus

  • Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills with the ability to earn trust quickly
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with strong time management and organizational abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
  • Sound judgment, integrity, and professionalism in all interactions
  • Comfortable with outbound sales activity, including cold calling and in-person prospecting
  • Ability to work independently in the field while managing an unstructured schedule
