We help large, complex revenue teams operate with the clarity and consistency of elite sellers by unifying strategic planning and real-time execution in one platform. Our buyer-back intelligence gives teams the right message, for the right person, at the right time, elevating every customer interaction and driving higher revenue performance. Global leaders like Microsoft, Salesforce, and Databricks rely on Databook to scale expert-level selling across their organizations. Founded in 2017 and backed by Bessemer Ventures, DFJ Growth, M12, Salesforce Ventures, and Threshold Ventures, Databook is headquartered in Palo Alto, CA with a distributed team around the world.

Job Description:

Databook is hiring a Sales Engineer to partner with Account Executives on net-new logo acquisition and revenue growth within our ideal customer profile. You’ll be the technical and value partner in the sales cycle, showing prospects how Databook creates stronger executive alignment, clearer outside-in narratives, and more predictable revenue outcomes.

Your day to day will focus on helping customers understand the value of Databook through tailored demos, POVs, proof of concepts, technical validation, and crisp financial storytelling. You’ll help prospects see how Databook uses intelligence, AI agents, and unified data to change the way they run meetings, build strategies, and make decisions. If you thrive in high-growth environments and want to help define the future of AI-powered selling, this is the place for you.

This is a fully remote role based anywhere in the United States or Canada and reports directly to the Head of Solutions.

About the Role:

  • Partner with AEs to run net-new logo opportunities end-to-end
  • Lead discovery to understand customer goals, workflows, KPIs, and value levers
  • Deliver compelling, narrative-led demos grounded in customer financials and strategic priorities
  • Own and execute technical validation, proof of concepts, and security reviews
  • Translate customer requirements into clear solution designs, POVs, and recommended workflows
  • Guide prospects through Databook best practices, data integrations, and AI-assisted workflows
  • Coordinate with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success on roadmap feedback and customer needs
  • Represent Databook with confidence and credibility in conversations with VP and C-level audiences
  • Ensure prospects clearly understand Databook’s differentiation versus generic AI copilots and internal builds

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years in a presales or technical customer-facing role (Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Solutions Architect, TAM, etc.)
  • Strong discovery, value-selling, and business outcome framing skill set
  • Experience running and owning POCs and technical validation cycles
  • Ability to translate complex workflows into simple, narrative-ready explanations
  • Familiarity with Salesforce, CRM data structures, and enterprise integrations
  • Working knowledge of APIs, LLMs, SaaS architecture, and data integration concepts
  • Executive presence and excellent communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation)
  • Comfortable operating in fast-moving, ambiguous, high-growth environments
  • Bonus: experience explaining or demoing AI workflows, value narratives, or decision-support tools
A Note on the Role:

This is Databook’s first dedicated Sales Engineer for our next phase of growth and new product expansion. You will be joining at the ground floor. There is no existing Sales Engineering team, no fully formed playbooks, and no established sales motion to inherit. This role is for someone who is energized by building - defining how presales works, shaping how we take a product to market, and helping establish the standards, workflows, and patterns that future Sales Engineers will follow. You’ll work closely with Sales, Product, and Engineering to turn early learnings into repeatable motions over time.

If you’re comfortable operating in ambiguity, rolling up your sleeves, testing ideas, iterating quickly, and figuring things out as you go, you’ll thrive here. If you’re looking for a highly structured environment with mature processes already in place, this may not be the right fit.

Join us! Here are some of our key benefits:

  • Competitive salary and equity
  • Employer contribution to Medical, Dental, Vision
  • 401k Retirement Plan
  • Unlimited PTO
  • Employee referral bonus program

Compensation:

The total compensation pay range for this role is $130,000.00 - $150,000.00. This salary range is an estimate. Actual salary will be based on job related skills, experience and location. Salary ranges outside San Francisco may be adjusted based on employee location. The total compensation package also includes benefits and equity-based compensation. Your recruiter can share more about the specific pay range for your location during the hiring process.
