About the RoleIf you are a seasoned safety professional looking to make an impact in a rewarding industry, join our team! As a Safety Specialists II at Sierra Space you are responsible for a range of technical work across HSE disciplines, focusing on engaging stakeholders, reducing risk, and maintaining related assigned HSE programs. You'll be working individually and in teams to develop, implement, and address employee and stakeholder concerns. Your technical responsibilities will ensure program compliance to federal, state, and local HSE regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

The EHS Specialist (Contract) will demonstrate leadership in all aspects of EHS. This includes engaging our team members, speaking up with ideas or concerns, and ensuring that EHS is a partner to all aspects of the business.

This EHS Specialist will work the night shift Monday-Saturday.

This person must possess a wide array of EHS expertise: OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, EPS, DOD, ASTM, etc. This role will help manage day to day EHS requirements such as emergency response, incident management, program development, employee engagement, assist in job hazard assessments, inspection of personal protective equipment, evaluation of procedures, and other EHS functions. This role will be responsible for gathering and maintaining EHS records and data as required by the EHS management system.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or related field of study, or experience

  • 0 - 2 or more years safety experience in aerospace, military, aviation, or general industry

  • Knowledgeable with a variety of occupational health & safety standards, EPA, OSHA, and NFPA regulations

  • Demonstrated ability to conduct a job hazard analysis, site audits, and incident root cause analysis

  • Fluency with data capture, data analytics, spreadsheets, and presentation

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of 29 CFR and other EHS related regulations and standards

  • Understanding of basic industrial hygiene and chemical management requirements

  • Experience developing or using EHS Management Systems such as ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and/or ANSI Z10

  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and administrative skills

  • Creative and innovative thinking

  • Self-accountability and dependability

  • High degree of ethics and integrity

  • Able to work with minimal supervision

  • Adept at collecting and maintaining EHS data with a high level of accuracy

  • Able to build productive relationships with all levels of the organization

  • Highly proficient communicator, both written and verbal

  • Technical knowledge of EHS topics

  • Comfortable responding to EHS related events/emergencies (incl. off-hours & holidays) if they were to occur

Compensation:

Pay Range: 

$36.06 - $49.58

  

Your actual base compensation will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related knowledge and skills, education, experience, internal equity and market competitiveness. 

Additional Requirements:
  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps

  • Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity.

  • Rarely lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • Rarely exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.)

  • Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials

  • Rarely exposed to loud noises
