Position Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Safety Manager to design, implement, and oversee comprehensive safety programs for our North America Shop at Home Business. This remote role requires 50–60% travel to office and warehouse locations across the U.S. and will support safety operations across 10 warehouse locations throughout Florida, Georgia, Texas, North Carolina, and Arizona. The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader with a strong track record of reducing incidents, improving safety protocols, and driving a culture of safety.

What you'll do

  • Program Design & Implementation:
    • Develop, implement, and manage safety programs tailored to the unique risks associated with in-home sales, installation technicians, and warehouse operations.
    • Establish and maintain safety policies, procedures, and training materials.
    • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local safety regulations (OSHA, DOT, etc.).
    • Partner with broader EH&S organization for Hunter Douglas to proven systems and techniques.
  • Incident Reduction:
    • Lead initiatives to significantly reduce incidents, with a particular focus on slips, trips, and falls.
    • Conduct thorough incident investigations, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
    • Analyze incident data to identify trends and develop targeted prevention strategies.
  • Warehouse Safety & Organization:
    • Implement and enforce organization and safety protocols within all warehouses, including proper material handling, equipment operation, and storage practices.
    • Conduct regular warehouse safety audits and inspections.
    • Ensure compliance with powered industrial truck safety standards.
  • Safe Driving Program:
    • Develop and manage a comprehensive safe driving program for all field-based employees.
    • Implement driver training, vehicle inspections, and monitoring programs.
    • Promote safe driving behaviors and address unsafe driving practices.
  • Workers' Compensation & Incident Rates:
    • Strategically reduce the cost of workers' compensation claims through proactive safety measures and effective claim management.
    • Implement programs to reduce overall incident rates across all business units.
    • Collaborate with HR and legal teams on workers' compensation cases.
  • Training & Communication:
    • Develop and deliver engaging safety training programs for employees at all levels.
    • Promote a strong safety culture through effective communication and awareness campaigns.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related inquiries and concerns.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Stay current with industry best practices and emerging safety technologies.
    • Continuously evaluate and improve existing safety programs and initiatives.
    • Develop and track key safety performance indicators (KPIs).

Who you are

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Environmental Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • CSP (Certified Safety Professional) certification preferred.
  • 6+ years of progressive experience in safety management, preferably within a distributed workforce environment involving field operations and warehousing.
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing safety programs that lead to measurable reductions in incidents and workers' compensation costs.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA regulations, DOT regulations, and other relevant safety standards.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and identify trends.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and safety management software.
  • Willingness and ability to travel 50-75% of the time.
