About us:

Ether.fi is one of the largest crypto companies in the world. We have over $10B in assets under management and a team of 30 almost all technical staff. We’ve been profitable day one and are focusing on building real consumer applications.

The future we envisage is true on-chain banking. Our current products; Stake, Liquid, and Cash enable users to earn yield in a variety of DeFi strategies, and spend their assets in the real world with our credit cards. You can view public analytics on Dune for Cash and Stake.

Position Overview:

We are hiring a Risk Engineer to join our founding team and architect world-class risk infrastructure for our $1B+ AUM institutional DeFi vaults. In this role, you'll be building automated monitoring systems, evaluating protocol risks, and implementing safeguards that enable competitive yield generation while protecting billions in digital assets. You'll collaborate with a tight-knit team to structure foundational risk systems designed to evolve and expand with our growing platform. We are looking for someone who deeply understands DeFi mechanics, loves solving complex risk problems, and wants to shape institutional DeFi adoption.

This role is based in one of our North American hubs and is in office 4x per week.

What you will do:

  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments of DeFi protocols including smart contract audit reviews, economic attack vectors, and governance risks

  • Build sophisticated liquidity analysis tools to predict slippage, market impact, and establish position limits across protocols

  • Design and deploy 24/7 automated monitoring systems tracking health factors, collateralization ratios, and liquidation thresholds

  • Develop real-time alerting infrastructure with sub-minute latency for critical risk events and automated escalation paths

  • Partner with the vault engineers and execution team to integrate risk controls into deployment strategies

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Finance, or related field

  • 3+ years of experience in DeFi, traditional finance risk management, or quantitative trading

  • Deep understanding of DeFi primitives: lending protocols, AMMs, perpetuals, yield aggregators, and liquidation mechanics

  • Proficiency in Python/TypeScript for risk modeling and automation, with experience querying blockchain data

  • Strong quantitative background with ability to model complex risk scenarios and build production monitoring systems

  • Independence and ownership mindset - ability to architect solutions with minimal guidance in a fast-paced startup

  • Excellent communication skills to interface with technical teams and explain risk to stakeholders

Benefits:

  • Competitive salary, performance-based incentives, and token allocation grant

  • Opportunity to work with a well-funded startup managing $1B+ from day one

  • Direct impact on institutional DeFi adoption and cutting-edge yield strategies

  • Exposure to the latest DeFi protocols and risk management innovations

  • Flexibility to shape risk practices at a ground-floor opportunity
