York Space Systems is looking for a talented RF Systems Engineer with 3-6 years of experience.

York RF System Engineers work closely with our technology partners and internal subsystems for ensuring successful execution of RF communications links. The ideal candidate looks forward to being a focal point for successful cross-disciplinary integration of electro-optical payloads. As an RF Systems Engineer at York, you will experience the full RF system life cycle from proposal to on-orbit commissioning, with a mixture of hands-on hardware activities and at the desk systems engineering work.

This is not a design role, but a system integrator role that is focused on working with our vendors and managing RF components across their lifecycle.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitate RF system verification and integration for York spacecraft.
  • Support the full systems engineering development lifecycle for RF components and payloads.
  • Determine RF component specifications in accordance with spacecraft designs, customer requirements, and industry standards.
  • Oversee the design, development, testing, and delivery of RF components by our suppliers.
  • Support requirement decomposition and allocation regarding RF components
  • Work across the supply chain and York engineering team to define interfaces and ensure compatibility between RF payloads and the Space Vehicles.
  • Support of on-orbit RF link anomaly resolution & commissioning activities
  • Support RF vendor milestone reviews & non-conformance disposition
  • Develop and maintain standard systems engineering products in support of major engineering program reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, PSR, etc.)
  • Participate in vendor/customer calls as the technical POC for the organization for a program of record
  • Work closely with subject matter experts to ensure successful integration and operation of RF components and payloads.
  • May require some travel to support testing and launch.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in RF Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
  • Prior experience with development and test of RF components and payloads.
  • Prior experience with environmental test campaigns of RF components (such as vibration testing and thermal chamber testing)
  • Prior experience throughout the systems engineering process
  • Prior experience managing RF component vendor contracts from a technical perspective
  • Basic ability to script (Python, MATLAB, etc.)
  • Desire to work in a fast-paced team environment and to mentor more junior engineers.
  • Basic ability to use Jira to manage and track tasking
  • Ability to perform under deadline: accountable and self-driven.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Organized and a decent multitasker across multiple projects.
  • Detail-orientated and data- driven.
  • Must have, or a willingness to obtain, a DoD Security Clearance


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Applicants meeting one or more of the below criteria are preferred.
  • Knowledge of basic communications theory principles
  • Basic knowledge of RF link budgets
  • Systems engineering experience within the space industry
  • Prior experience with systems integration of RF components for space applications
  • Prior experience with one or more of the following types of components:
  • LNAs
  • SSPAs
  • Antenna
  • Radios
  • Prior experience working with RF components covering S, X, and Ka bands.
  • Basic familiarity with common RF test equipment (VNA, Spectrum Analyzer, etc.)
  • Experience with or desire to support Optical Communication Platforms
  • Background in electronics or networking
  • Active DoD TS/SCI Clearance
