Job Description
Role Summary:
The Research Data Analyst will be responsible for the processing, enhancement, and ongoing monitoring of priority alternative datasets for the Citadel Securities Research Team. The Analyst will focus on understanding each dataset deeply while improving data integrity and quality through data visualization, analysis, and anomaly detection. These datasets will then be used to enrich alpha signals across our Systematic Trading and Research Business.
As a member of our Research team, the Research Data Analyst will collaborate closely with many stakeholders across Citadel Securities, including Data Engineers and Quantitative Researchers. The Analyst will play a pivotal role in evaluating and extracting maximum value from unique and interesting datasets.
We are looking for individuals who are very detailed-oriented and excited to solve unique and complex data problems on a world-class team and organization.

Objectives:
  • Develop a deep understanding of the features, limitations, and methodologies of each alternative dataset
  • Closely collaborate with external data vendors and research Data Engineers to verify and improve the quality of each dataset
  • Manage and implement data quality processes and consistency checks (e.g. normalization of data fields, outlier detection, etc.)
  • Create dashboards and visualizations to illustrate key findings of your analyses
  • Communicate dataset-level insights verbally and in writing to Quantitative Researchers and Data Engineers
  • Conduct business-related research to enrich datasets

Skills and Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years of full time experience in a fast-paced industry, research, or consulting setting
  • Strong attention to detail and interest in digging deep into data
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to ask the right questions and draw actionable conclusions from data
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies, skills, and industries
  • Experience visualizing data in Tableau or another similar BI tool
  • Expertise with SQL databases
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in a STEM field
