About the Role

As an Experience Representative, you’ll be the first friendly face our members see when they walk through the door. You’ll support the Y’s mission by building genuine relationships, answering questions, and helping members find the programs and resources that best fit their goals.

  • Greet and engage with members, guests, and community visitors in a caring and inclusive way.
  • Provide information about membership options, programs, and services.
  • Handle member check-ins, program and membership inquiries.
  • Support membership growth through outreach, tours, and positive member experiences.
  • Work closely with the team to ensure the Y remains a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all.

POSITION SUMMARY  

Under the direction of the Experience Director, the Representative will be point of contact for prospective new members, current members and guests.  The incumbent will handle membership sales and administrative items while demonstrating enthusiasm to members and guests. The Representative works alongside the YMCA Center team to deliver world-class customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS  

  • Interdepartmental collaboration to ensure facility/programs are meeting member’s needs   
  • Develops positive relationships with members and participants and provides motivational support and guidance focusing on the needs of the member  
  • Conducts membership tours, enrolls new members and processes/reviews member applications, including performing/reviewing data entry on all membership requests  
  • Assists Experience Director with member phone calls, emails, surveys and marketing efforts 
  • Assists members and participants with program registration, answers inquiries, including member concerns and provides information on membership and programs  
  • Circulates throughout the building to ensure safety of users and security of building  
  • May act as manager on duty if assigned  
  • Carry out daily tasks related directly to the position’s scope and responsibility  

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Regularly required to use a computer for extended periods of time and be able to communicate using a computer and phone/smart device.    
  • Frequently required to sit, reach and must be able to move around the work environment   
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds  
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and focus   
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate

Qualifications & Benefits

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum age 18 
  • High school diploma or GED required 
  • Prefer 1+ years of relevant experience preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency  
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations  
  • Must be adaptable, have high ownership and strong work ethic  
  • Commitment to shared accountability, teamwork, and creative leadership  
  • Demonstrate an ability to interact positively with people; perform several duties simultaneously and take the initiative to solve participant problems  
  • Understanding the mission and purpose of the YMCA and roles of volunteers and staff  
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, holidays as needed 
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire
