Job Summary
The Reliability Engineering Manager is a key technical role responsible for ensuring the reliability, durability, and performance of Mesa’s power generation equipment throughout its lifecycle. This position focuses on identifying, assessing, and mitigating reliability risks across design, manufacturing, supplier quality, testing, and field operation environments where failure can result in significant operational, safety, or financial impact.
This role leads reliability analysis, failure investigation, and corrective action efforts to prevent repeat failures and improve long-term product performance. The Reliability Engineer II works closely with Failure Analysis Engineering, Design Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Field Service to translate reliability data into actionable improvements in design robustness, process capability, and supplier performance.

The position requires strong engineering judgment, hands-on analytical capability, and the ability to influence cross-functional teams without direct authority. Success in this role is measured by reduced field failures, improved first-pass yield, stronger corrective action effectiveness, and increased confidence in product performance at customer sites.

Essential Duties

  • Lead reliability engineering activities including DFMEA, PFMEA, fault tree analysis, and risk prioritization
  • Identify and mitigate reliability risks across design, manufacturing, and supplier processes
  • Define reliability requirements, validation strategies, and acceptance criteria for products and systems
  • Drive failure prevention through design reviews, process reviews, and risk-based decision making
  • Lead structured failure investigations (8D, A3, root cause) and ensure effective resolution
  • Analyze field data, warranty trends, test results, and defects to identify systemic reliability issues
  • Own corrective and preventive actions from initiation through verification of effectiveness
  • Develop and track reliability metrics (MTBF, failure rates, trends) to drive continuous improvement
  • Apply statistical analysis, SPC, and process capability (Cp/Cpk) to reduce variation and improve reliability
  • Partner cross-functionally (Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain) to resolve complex issues
  • Support supplier reliability through qualification, audits, PFMEA reviews, and performance management
  • Define and oversee reliability testing (life, stress, HALT/HASS), ensuring results drive design/process improvements
  • Evaluate reliability impacts of process changes, deviations, and manufacturing readiness decisions
  • Strengthen product robustness, reduce repeat failures, and improve real-world performance outcomes
  • Lead team performance, resource allocation, and process improvements while aligning to business goals
  • All other duties assigned.
