DLR Group has an opening for a Region Sector Leader. We operate in office Monday-Thursday with a flexible work model on Friday. This role is open in the following cities:

  • Phoenix, AZ
  • Denver, CO

Role Summary
Responsible for the growth, profitability and design excellence of assigned sector and geographic region. The SL will work closely with the sector GSL to strategically grow the sector in concert with the sector’s business plan. This includes increasing new win fees, meeting established profitability metrics, design recognition, hiring new staff, mentoring and elevating existing staff, and being a recognized leader in the sector externally. The SL will work closely with RLs and other leaders including SLs from assigned and other sectors to reach the firm’s stated goals annually.
Key Performance Measures
•    Lead strategy and teams to achieve a minimum 13% profit and 10% growth per annum in their assigned market area.
•    Achieve the financial goals as defined in the firm’s annual business plan for the sector within your
market area. (65% of projects profitable in their sector and Average Gain/Loss ratio greater than 2.5)
•    Win (X) industry design awards, speak at (X) engagements, and obtain design recognition from recognized media, industry, or client organizations. Write articles, post thought leadership on social platforms, and be present on SQ1.
•    Excell at the following responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities
The essential functions below must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation daily. These are the core requirements of the position. All employees are required to work as part of a team and remain flexible in their duties and project assignments.
•    Work closely with GSL in the development of an annual business plan that aligns with and supports the overall business plan goals of the sector.
•    Collaborate with GSL, BDL, Region Leader, other SLs and design staff to pursue, and execute work.
•    Identify, review, interview, and select potential candidates as needed to support the growth of the sector in alignment with the sector’s business plan.
•    Collaboration with Regional Leader/GSL in setting annual compensation and bonus recommendations for sector specific staff and those whose primary responsibility has been the design and execution of sector specific work.
•    Collaborate with other SLs, Design Leaders, and Thought leaders across the breadth of the sector.
•    Consistent periodic communication (at least biweekly) with GSL regarding sector performance, personnel needs or concerns, and overall strategic direction of the sector.
•    Be a regional and/or nationally recognized industry expert, continually growing expertise and skill sets. Demonstrate this via regional or national speaking opportunities, being published, or receiving design recognition in the marketplace.
•    Travel in support of project acquisition, project execution, conferences, firm activities and as needed to meet with relevant team members.
•    Involve the GSL in BD301 strategies to win work on projects with projected DLR Group gross fees of more than $3 million dollars or if a partner firm is being considered.
•    Lead/Participate in career and performance management for sector-specific staff. 

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Must demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of integrated design, strategic growth, market trends, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to provide leadership to the integrated disciplines in developing award-winning technical design solutions. Must be a strong communicator, collaborative, customer focused, and growth oriented.

Education/Licensure
Required Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering or related field. 
Preferred Professional License or Certification.
