Your Opportunity as Regional Sales Manager-East Region (Sweet Baked Snacks)

In this role you will be the Sales Account Manager for strategic East Region Grocery Accounts.  You will be responsible for working with our broker partner to manage sales goal delivery, customer Joint Business Plans and all aspects of the sales process associated with assigned accounts.  Key measurable will be delivering top line sales, balancing a trade spending budget, achieving market share goals, and achieving net profit targets.

Location: Candidates must reside within the following area for consideration: East US Region (within 1 hour of major airport).  Candidates within 1 hour of Orrville, OH will also be considered. 

Work Arrangements: Working from home office up to 50% expected travel

In this role you will be a sales manager for a strategic business unit with goal to drive profitable sales growth and brand share for both Smucker & our customers.

Business Management

  • Develop and implement plans to drive brand/category growth and achieve or exceed sales/profit goals
  • Manage business development and build productive relationships with sales broker team
  • Monitor sales execution with broker partner and adjust as needed to achieve objectives
  • Lead and influence negotiations for new items, key initiatives, etc.
  • Drive brand share growth in market and with customer
  • Build & maintain collaborative relationships with all internal cross-functional constituents
  • Support and partner with Supply Chain team to drive solutions at Customer

Business Planning & Analysis

  • Own creation and execution of company business plan and customer Joint Business Plan
  • Perform in-depth analysis of sales and profit components, including merchandising, promotional and supply chain opportunities
  • Work with syndicated, and other data sources to manage and inform strategic and tactical plans
  • Manage and own internal sales system (promotions, deductions, forecast, etc.)
  • Effectively manage trade budget and distribution, shelving, merchandising, and pricing objectives
  • Ad-hoc financial and data analysis, including pre/post event analysis
  • Drive business process improvements by working closely with cross-functional business partners and team

What we are looking for:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • A minimum of 5 years of Consumer-Packaged Goods (CPG) sales/account management
  • Previous broker management experience
  • Previous account management experience at a National Account headquarters or Regional Account headquarters
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Strong technical skills in office applications (i.e Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proven leader in negotiation success
  • Ability to meet work travel needs
  • Ability to relocate in the future for other job opportunities within the company may be required
  • Reside within 1 hour of one of major airport within East Region

Additional skills and experience that we think would make someone successful in this role:

  • Joint Business Planning experience
  • Center store (food) experience
  • Previous experience calling on National accounts
  • Proficient in use of syndicated data sources (IRI/Nielsen), or other sales data systems
