Regional Director of Operations Position Overview
Reporting to the Senior Vice President of Operations, the Regional Operations Director leads a team of Base Managers responsible for the daily activities of an aviation station, with a primary focus on snow removal. General responsibilities are centered on, developing operational objectives, training of operators/drivers and other members of the base operations team, all while promoting a safe/productive work environment and ensuring excellent service to our customers. The Director ensures the team maintains a high state of readiness to deploy manpower and equipment during weather events.
Each location employs approximately 40-250 employees and independent contractors during inclement weather events.
Regional Director of Operations duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee Operations for multiple site locations throughout the United States.
- Develops, implements, and monitors all aspects of the snow removal / operations program, including safety, recruitment, orientation, training, support, and recognition of operators.
- Regularly evaluates the efficiency of business procedures according to organizational objectives and develops and applies strategies for improvement.
- Revise and/or formulate policies and promote their implementation.
- Evaluate overall Base performance by gathering, analyzing and interpreting data and metrics.
- Manages relationships/agreements with customers, partners and vendors.
- Reviews, analyzes, modifies, and implements efficient and effective department budgets, processes, policies, and procedures. Reviews financial results information relative to regional performance and adjusts where necessary to promote profitability.
- Maintains a working knowledge of all operating systems pertaining to the work area.
- Keeps up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.
- Provides the work group clear and informative direction through timely feedback.
- Enforces established safety guidelines; promotes a safe workplace.
- Maintains accurate records and metrics, audits, as necessary.
- Responds to external customer questions and resolve problems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
- Travel 50% locally or nationally.
Regional Director of Operations Skills & Experience
- At least 10 years in a multi-market business operations leadership role.
- At least 2 years Snow Removal / Construction Experience or equivalent preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to manage priorities and workflow.
- Proven leadership and business/financial acumen skills.
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Advanced understanding of basic office applications including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm.
Regional Director of Operations Physical Aspects/Work Environment
- Regularly required to stand; walk; sit; and talk, hear and see.
- Long hours during snow removal operations
- Regularly/occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
