R&D Technician I
Summary/Objective
Forge Nano’s R&D & coating operations team is responsible for coatings and applications development and is seeking a talented technician responsible for facility and system cleaning and maintenance activities. This position is critical to the daily function of laboratory space and equipment within it. This position covers a broad range of laboratory maintenance duties, including laboratory, parts and materials organization, as well as instrumentation and equipment cleaning, assembly and maintenance.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
1. Maintains a safe work environment by following safety training and SOPs regarding safety, proper PPE, equipment operations, lab procedures and sample processing.
2. Maintains the laboratory area by keeping a clean and organized workspace.
3. Handles the proper storage of chemical waste, including organization of satellite station and materials needed for waste disposal.
4. Performs inventory, maintains stock, and organizational tasks of materials or parts necessary to maintain laboratory operations.
5. Maintains laboratory areas and helps facilitate parts cleaning activities.
6. Performs reactor and glovebox maintenance procedures, troubleshooting, and periodic systems checks. e.g. vacuum system cleaning, leak checks, manifold rebuilds, component operation checks, and pump rebuild and maintenance. Tracks tool health metrics by performing basic tool tests.
7. Help to install new laboratory reactors by assisting in installing mechanical support systems, plumbing gas lines or exhaust lines, and moving existing equipment.
8. Keep a neat and orderly record of all work done and maintain records (maintenance, data, tool configuration, SOPs, etc.) as necessary.
Required Education and Experience
1. High School Diploma or GED required.
2. 2+ years demonstrating mechanical maintenance or aptitude
3. Proficient with hand and power tools.
Preferred Skills and Experience
1. Team collaboration and communication skills
2. Ability to handle and complete multiple projects in a timely manner
3. Experience in a laboratory environment particularly including chemical and materials hazards
4. Experience utilizing and maintaining vacuum equipment and systems.
5. Electrical knowhow, welding a plus
Work Environment
Work is carried out in a research and development laboratory and production facility. While performing the duties of this job, the employee handles hazardous chemicals in the laboratory. The employee will be required to wear all appropriate safety equipment including but not limited to eye protection, gloves, steel toe shoes, lab coat, and when overhead work is ongoing, a hard hat. An employee in this position works in an environment in which safety, environmental and health concerns may demand constant attention. Strict adherence to corporate and/or plant policies, rules and regulations in these areas is required.

The employee occasionally will work near moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This job often requires lifting.

Compensation/Benefits
• Hourly: $22 - $27/hour Depending on Qualifications
