Job Description:

The Brocade Switch and Networking (BSN) business unit of Broadcom is seeking a Software QA Test Engineer to test and verify Brocade's SAN based networked solutions. The ideal candidate should be skilled in both manual and automated testing, have experience configuring, and troubleshooting of Linux, Windows, and VMWare, and proficient in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python) for test automation. The position requires a solid understanding of software/hardware engineering principles and system quality assurance knowledge for planning, execution, and reporting. The candidate will be part of a test team that is responsible for the verification of Brocade’s Fabric OS and associated HW switching platforms, management API’s and automation script development.

Primary responsibility includes:

  • Collaborate with developers and product managers to understand technical specifications and design comprehensive test plans covering functional, integration, regression, and performance testing

  • Assess test progress and advise area leads and management on their overall test and quality status of the assigned test area(s).

  • Work closely with development teams to identify, document, and track software defects and bugs using appropriate bug tracking tools (e.g., JIRA)

  • Communicate effectively with management, cross-functional teams and stakeholders regarding test progress, results, and recommendations

Requirements (Must Have):

  • Bachelor of Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 8 years of hands-on software testing experience

  • Strong understanding of software testing methodologies, functional, negative, boundary, performance, scale, longevity testing, etc.

  • Strong IP networking and troubleshooting skills and protocol knowledge (L2/L3/L4)

  • SAN/Storage knowledge

  • Installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of Linux, Windows, and VMWare

  • Proficient in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python) for test automation.

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple, parallel tasks and projects

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, with a detail oriented approach.

  • Position requires 100% on-site attendance

Highly Desired:

  • SAN protocol knowledge (Fibre Channel, FCIP, FICON)

  • Web UI automation using Selenium

  • Knowledge of REST API concepts and usage

  • Brocade SAN administration

Compensation and Benefits

The annual base salary range for this position is $108,000 - $172,800

This position is also eligible for a discretionary annual bonus in accordance with relevant plan documents, and equity in accordance with equity plan documents and equity award agreements.
