Job Title: Manager, Quality
Job Summary
The QA Manager is responsible for directing the quality assurance programs and continually improve the quality control procedures and policies. The position is responsible for all quality assurance related internal audits in adherence with regulatory standards. The position supervises QA team.
Responsibility
Plan, organize, schedule and maintain the activities of the quality department to ensure that the department supports the needs of Engineering, Product Development, Prototype Build and Prototype Test.
Establish quality goals and objectives that support the facility’s operations. Champion the Quality Management System as the TS/ISO Management Representative.
Establish a manpower plan to run the department effectively and efficiently. Develop and empower employees through training programs, feedback and reviews. Promote understanding of AIAG and customer tools.
Establish long term plans for the department, equipment and personnel development.
Ensure that the Quality requirements of our customers are met. Provide a supplier management system.
Create, recommend, implement, verify and continually improve procedures and systems for the efficient and effective control of quality. Create plans to reduce the cost of poor quality.
Ensure that high standards of quality are maintained; ensure effective and efficient usage and compliance to regulatory, legislative and customer requirements; ensure that immediate action is taken to rectify the cause of poor quality.
Interact and maintain effective communication(s) with managers, supervisors, support staff and production personnel.
Coordinate the development and preparation of quality documentation to support APQP, corrective actions, continuous improvement and plant metrics.
Establish priorities and objectives in order of importance.
Ensure quality standards for McLaren are effectively communicated to Prototype Suppliers.
Assist McLaren Quality and Purchasing personnel with Supplier Quality functions.
Network with other facilities and other managers to exchange information and solve problems.
Make decisions about suggestions for change and continuous improvement.
Respond to customer complaints.
Complete legal forms for the facility.
Plan, lead and conduct audits, including closing out audit findings, creating audit finding reports, and determine proper corrective and preventive actions.

Academic/Educational Requirements
A university degree in manufacturing, engineering or a related discipline. ASQ Certification is preferred. Minimum of five years’ experience in manufacturing and supervision.
Required Skills/Experience
Define, develop and implement quality assurance practices and procedures, test plans and other QA assessments.
Advanced leadership skills driven by values that support the objectives of the company.
Ability to write quality assurance reports and describe manufacturing problems, corrective actions taken and preventative measures needed. Proposals are usually written for non-technical audiences such as clients and management.
Ability to make presentations to management during meetings to provide an overview of areas such as product costing, maintenance and equipment failures which need to be considered when planning for the coming year.
Ability to train employees with the goal of empowering them.
Ability to produce and interpret charts and metrics for the management team and/or customers.
Ability to compare budgets to actual expenditures and make financial projections. Plan to reduce COPQ.
Ability to work independently and participate in a team setting.
Participate in group discussions on methods for improving work processes or product quality and the allocation of work responsibilities and goals.
Meet with; department heads, supervisors (when necessary), team members and staff (periodically) to discuss operations, policies and procedures.
Advanced knowledge of machine capability requirements and SPC tools. Trained in the ISO/TS 16949 quality management systems and internal auditing. Knowledge of the Core Tools (APQP, MSA, PPAP, SPC, FMEA).
Practical knowledge of state-of-the-art inspection and quality engineering techniques, procedures, equipment, theories and principles.
Familiarity with OEM’s Supplier Portals
Auditor Certification as a lead auditor for IATF 16949.
Advanced GD&T knowledge.
Ability to use various computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Ability to track expenses and run projections. Familiar with customer websites.
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Working knowledge of testing procedures in the prototype development environment preferred.
Engage in ongoing learning through participation in professional organizations, seminars, formal courses, conferences and trade shows. Upgrade skills by attending conferences and networking functions, by liaising with industry associations and by taking management classes through education institutions.
