Job Summary & Responsibilities

IEM is looking for a Full Time - Quality Assurance & Technical Documentation Analyst to support an agile application development team delivering client facing business applications. This role combines hands-on software testing with the creation of clear, user-facing documentation and training materials. The ideal candidate has experience planning and executing user acceptance and regression testing, tracking and communicating defects, and writing release notes, user guides, and technical notifications that non-technical users can follow. 

Primary Location:

  • Live anywhere that meets personal office /at home work requirements in the United States including Puerto Rico. 

Travel Requirements:

  • This position may require occasional travel to client’s office at DC to complete work assignments or attend meetings. 

Essential Functions:

  • Plan and execute user acceptance testing (UAT), functional testing, and regression testing for each application release.
  • Develop test plans, test cases, and acceptance criteria based on user stories and requirements.
  • Log, track, and prioritize defects; verify fixes and communicate status to the development team and stakeholders.
  • Write and maintain step-by-step user guides, quick-reference materials, and system documentation.
  • Draft release notes and technical notifications describing new features, fixes, and known issues in plain language.
  • Develop training materials and support end-user training sessions for new and updated functionality.
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint reviews and release readiness decisions.
  • Support requirements for refinement and business analysis activities as needed. 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Communications, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience: 4+ years of experience in software quality assurance, user acceptance testing, or technical writing for software applications.
  • Demonstrated experience writing test cases and executing manual functional and regression testing.
  • Demonstrated experience producing user-facing documentation such as user guides, release notes, or training materials.
  • Experience working with a defect-tracking or work-management tool (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent).
  • Excellent written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical functionality to non-technical audiences.
  • S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a federal Public Trust suitability determination. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience testing applications built on low-code/no-code platforms (e.g., Microsoft Power Platform, Appian, ServiceNow, Salesforce).
  • Familiarity with agile/scrum delivery and sprint-based release cycles.
  • Experience supporting federal or public sector clients, including familiarity with Section 508 accessibility testing.
  • Experience with SharePoint or similar collaboration platforms for publishing documentation.
  • QA or technical writing certifications (e.g., ISTQB, CPTC) .

  • Office Locations: Often, these offices are either owned by the client we work with or by IEM. All candidates are expected to follow any rules and regulations of the office in which they are required to work for that project.
  • Personal Office:All personal office work environments require the ability to maintain minimum Internet speeds of 25 Mbps upload and 3 Mbps download, as well as a ping rate of 100 ms or less during working hours, regardless of the type and number of devices using your Internet connection. You must also have account privileges and access to your Internet service provider account during working hours for the purpose of maintaining the Internet connection, if needed.
