As we continue to expand, we are seeking a dedicated and experienced Purchasing Manager to oversee and guide our purchasing team of 5-7 employees. This role will be instrumental in the management of procurement processes, supplier relationships, and purchasing strategies for the company, ensuring efficient inventory control and timely delivery of materials and services.

 

As the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the purchasing department, supervising a team of 5-7 employees, and ensuring the efficient procurement of goods, materials, and services in support of our aerospace manufacturing and operational needs. You will play a critical role in the development of purchasing strategies, supplier management, and cost control efforts. The Purchasing Manager will work closely with cross-functional teams including production, engineering, IT, and finance to optimize procurement and inventory processes.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Supervision:
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of 5-7 buyers in the procurement process.
    • Set goals, conduct performance reviews, and provide professional development opportunities for the team.
    • Ensure the team executes purchasing tasks in a timely, efficient, and cost-effective manner.
  • Procurement Management:
    • Oversee the purchasing of goods, materials, services, and equipment for the Company.
    • Review purchase requisitions and collaborate with planning teams to verify needs and priorities.
    • Manage and execute purchase orders promptly and efficiently.
    • Monitor and track purchase order status and communicate updates to all relevant stakeholders.
    • Review and submit RFQs/RFPs to suppliers, awarding contracts based on cost efficiency, reliability, and quality.
  • Supplier & Vendor Management:
    • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with current and new suppliers.
    • Negotiate the best value for the Company in terms of pricing, delivery, and quality.
    • Conduct supplier status meetings and performance evaluations.
    • Conduct cost analysis and comparison to ensure optimal value for all purchases.
    • Ensure compliance with regulations and company policies in vendor agreements.
  • System Management:
    • Update and maintain the ERP system with accurate purchase order status, transactions, and inventory data.
    • Ensure proper documentation and record-keeping of all purchasing activities.
    • Work closely with the inventory team to manage stock levels and procurement planning.
    • Use and manage P-cards in accordance with company policies.
  • Cost Management & Reporting:
    • Lead vendor cost management team, analyze purchasing data and trends to make informed procurement decisions.
    • Contribute to internal meetings with key stakeholders by providing updates and insights regarding procurement activities.

 

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with the ability to manage a team and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with vendors, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct cost analysis and make purchasing decisions based on data.
  • Well-versed in ERP systems and data entry, with prior experience in managing inventory and purchasing platforms.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong math, logic, and deductive reasoning abilities.
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

 

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of overall purchasing experience (preferably in aerospace or similar industries).
  • 2+ years of leadership experience in managing a team.
  • Prior experience with ERP systems is required.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative team-oriented environment.
  • Experience in managing purchasing operations, negotiating contracts, and maintaining vendor relationships.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Aerospace industry experience or familiarity with aerospace manufacturing processes is highly preferred.
  • Experience in cost analysis, supplier negotiations, and project management.
