Who we are

Location: United States

Type: Full-Time

The 4M story is likely one you haven’t heard before: We’re on a mission to unlock access to the world below us, doing for underground utilities what Google Maps did for roads. Our Utility AI platform provides instant, verified subsurface utility data to reduce risk, accelerate planning, and increase safety for infrastructure projects across the U.S.

We’re growing fast, with teams based in Tel Aviv, Israel, and Austin, Texas, and a public sector customer base that includes some of the largest DOTs in the country.

About the Role

As a Public Sector Solutions Engineer at 4M Analytics, you’ll play a critical dual role across both pre-sales and post-sales engagements. You’ll partner closely with Account Executives to lead technical discovery, demo, and pilot execution, and work hand-in-hand with Customer Success to onboard and enable DOTs and public infrastructure agencies after the sale.

You’ll be the technical face of 4M to our most strategic customers, translating complex subsurface workflows into clear, visual, and compelling narratives. From pilots to statewide rollouts, you’ll ensure customers experience value quickly and continuously.

Target Clients

This role is focused on supporting large public transportation agencies across the U.S. You’ll work directly with State Departments of Transportation (DOTs), as well as Local Public Agencies (LPAs) including cities, counties, municipalities, and transit or toll agencies. These organizations rely on accurate, timely utility data to deliver infrastructure safely, on time, and within budget, and you’ll play a key role in helping them achieve that through 4M’s platform.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Technical Discovery & Demo: Work with AEs to identify stakeholder pain points and map those to compelling solution stories.
  • Drive Pilot Execution: Define success criteria, process client’s data, and own the delivery of measurable results (e.g., utility overlap, object validation).
  • Support Technical Close: Act as the trusted advisor during procurement and proposal evaluation processes.
  • Onboard & Enable New Clients: Collaborate with CSMs to ensure successful data delivery, adoption, and integration across client’s teams.
  • Feedback Loop to Product: Serve as the voice of the field, surfacing insights to our product and technical teams for continuous platform improvement.
  • Pre-Sale to Post-Sale Continuity: Ensure technical alignment and trust from first meeting through ongoing usage and expansion.
  • 5+ years experience as a Solutions Engineer, Technical Consultant, or Implementation Lead supporting public sector clients — preferably state DOTs, municipalities, counties, or transit agencies.
  • Strong presentation and storytelling skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both engineering and executive audiences.
  • Background in civil engineering, CAD/GIS software, or infrastructure-related SaaS is strongly preferred.
  • Experience delivering product demos, pilots, or technical proofs-of-concept to support enterprise sales.
  • A fast learner with a high degree of curiosity, coachability, and ownership.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to meet with client’s teams onsite (typically 1–2 times/month).
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams across Product, Sales, and Customer Success.

Preferred

  • Prior work with digital subsurface mapping, SUE, or ASCE 38/75 workflows.
  • Experience with Esri, Autodesk, Bentley, or other infrastructure design tools.
  • Understanding of procurement cycles and public-sector sales strategies.
  • Engineering degree or background in civil, geospatial, or construction disciplines.
  • Hands-on experience with utility coordination, SUE workflows, ROW research, or infrastructure design processes.

Key Attributes We Value

  • Work Ethic: You consistently go the extra mile to deliver results.
  • Grit and Resilience: You take initiative, adapt to challenges, and maintain momentum in long sales cycles.
  • Curiosity and Passion: You’re eager to understand the intricacies of our product and its impact on client workflows.
  • Coachability and Growth Mindset: Open to feedback and committed to personal and professional growth, with the adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-growth startup environment.

4M Perks:

  • Salary Range: based on location and experience.
  • Competitive Equity Plan: We offer stock options so every team member shares in the company’s long-term success.
  • Hybrid Work Model: Remote or 4 days in-office each week in Austin.
  • Retirement Benefits: 401(k) + company match to help you build a strong financial future.
  • Flexible PTO Policy: We believe in balance - take time off when you need it. And with extended parental leave, you can be fully present for life’s most important moments.
