Clinical Facilitator - FT
The position plans, schedules, and assigns nursing students to each clinical rotation and provides ongoing clinical faculty oversight to clinical sites. Responsibilities also include coordinating clinical experiences, engaging in public relations activities to ensure positive and professional working relationships are maintained with current clinical placement sites, and actively seeking new clinical sites for future student placements. The Clinical Facilitator completes clinical call sheets when site visits occur that are logged into a Master Monthly Status Report to demonstrate ongoing clinical oversight has occurred for the term. In addition to the primary role of regional clinical oversight, the Clinical Facilitator is also responsible for teaching the didactic portion of one course per term. This position reports to the Dean and Director of Clinical Placement.
Responsibilities
Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Ascertain the clinical needs of faculty and students;
- Facilitate orientation for clinical faculty through Orientation personnel;
- Facilitate education by assisting students with individual clinical needs;
- Maintain a schedule for faculty and students to demonstrate and explain specific clinical requirements;
- Coordinate resources for faculty;
- Supervise the preparation of materials related to clinical sites, faculty, and agency requirements;
- Supervise designated faculty member in follow-up on clinical faculty and students in clinical sites;
- Participate in the documentation and meetings with students who have unsatisfactory progress in the clinical area;
- Maintain clear and timely communication with clinical site coordinators;
- Participate in preparing the annual budget for clinical faculty needs;
- Coordinate communication with clinical faculty and students in clinical areas;
- Establish clinical sites sufficient to provide students with clinical experiences required to meet graduate competencies and outcomes;
- Organize the administration of and follow-up on student and faculty clinical evaluations;
- Participate in faculty committee activities related to the revision and updating of clinical course objectives;
- Participate in student advising related to clinical experiences;
- Active member of standing College Committees;
- Performs duties as assigned by the Dean of Nursing or Director of Clinical Placement.
Qualifications
- Unencumbered license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Colorado.
- Minimum of a Master’s Degree in Nursing.
- A terminal degree or active pursuit of a terminal degree is preferred.
- Minimum of one year of didactic or clinical nursing teaching experience.
- Current CPR certification as a health care provider.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check.
- An unencumbered Colorado driver’s license.
- Auto insurance with a copy on file in the business office.
- Current clinical nursing knowledge within area of specialty and ongoing maintenance of clinical competency.
- Minimum of three years of recent clinical experience in area of specialty.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and through learning technologies such as computers and e-mail.
- Ability to work effectively with clinical agencies, staff, faculty, and students as a member of a team.
Classification: Part-time, hourly, non-exempt
Schedule: approximately 20 hours per week, with hours that vary, including days, evenings, and weekend hours
