R&D Program Manager - Marketplace
Summary
The Workiva Marketplace will allow us to continue to help simplify complex work by providing a place for our customers to discover and activate templates, connectors, and services from industry experts and our trusted partners. Our Marketplace AppExchange is a new initiative for Workiva and part of our winning equation to become the world’s leading platform for simplifying complex business processes.
Today we are seeking an experienced Program Manager to lead us from where we are today with our recently released Marketplace to the unwritten future. There is opportunity to grow and improve upon what we offer today. This role is highly cross functional and collaborative as the Marketplace stakeholders include R&D, Marketing, Partnerships, Customer Success and internal IT.

The R&D Program Manager drives one or more cross-departmental programs related to product development, as well as measures and communicates program strategic goals and results.
This role is a remote U.S. Based role. You do need the right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Responsibilities
Drive delivery of program success and the projects within the program.
Gather and report on project/program metrics regularly; solicit feedback on effectiveness of progress updates.
Drive dependency management & oversight; collaborate with involved teams on work that will need to be done for project/program success; coordinate and sequence milestones to accelerate program success.
Conduct regular program/project reviews with leaders, providing status updates and recommending actions to take.
Drive different forms of internal collaboration: up, sideways, and down to the project level.
Work with stakeholders to determine the success of each program and subsequently plans for implementation of successful programs and discontinuing unsuccessful ones.
Support the fostering of a culture of innovation and continual improvement.
Execute on strategy. Focus on delivering benefits and realizing the organization’s strategic goals. Design, plan and deliver strategic initiatives and cross-functional programs.
Serve as a change agent by stimulating, communicating, and institutionalizing business agility.
Mediate and resolve conflicts within the program.
Partner closely with fellow program/project managers and delivery managers to lead, assist or have awareness of programs and initiatives that entail collaboration or could be scaled broadly.
Network with stakeholders to build cross-functional relationships to further create, define and execute strategies and initiatives.
Establish strong relationships and partnerships internally.
What You'll Need
Education
Undergraduate Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field.
Skills
Strong assessment skills with an ability to evaluate wants vs. needs and the ability to negotiate prioritization accordingly.
Understand the SaaS market as it pertains to program management.
Strong understanding of the product development life-cycle.
Understanding of technical concepts and system architecture.
Move fluidly from the big picture to details in order to deliver complex cross-functional projects, often with tight deadlines. Multi-tasking and quickly pivoting between initiatives will be critical.
Have a passion for collaboration: Spend most of their majority of time communicating, collaborating, and coordinating cross-functionally throughout the organization. Serve as strategic coordinator across teams, departments, business units, and even geographies.
Exercise solid project leadership skills combined with strong business acumen, excellent communication skills, and in-depth analytical capabilities.
Understand complex concepts, resolve problems and present appropriate business solutions and recommendations; ability to make reasoned, independent decisions objectively. You are analytical and truth-seeking.
Strong leadership, prioritization, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills (verbal/presentation/written).
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, unpredictable environment.
Able to interact with and influence various levels of an organization both technical and non-technical. Strong relationship management skills.
Experience
Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in a related field
Minimum of 5 years of software development and/or project/program management experience
Experience in a SaaS based product organization is highly preferred
PMI certification (for example, PMP or PMI ACP, or PRINCE 2) a plus
Certified Scrum Master (CSM) preferred
Proficiency with Jira, Agile a plus
Travel Requirement
Up to 10-20% of time by car/plane to meet with customers and Workiva staff once travel resumes.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Reliable internet access for any period of time working remotely, not in a Workiva office.
How You'll Be Rewarded
Base Pay Range in Colorado: $119,000 - $159,000
A discretionary bonus typically paid annually
Restricted Stock Units granted at time of hire
The base pay range represents the low and high end of the hiring range for this job. Actual pay will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to relevant skills, experience, and capabilities.
