Bioinformatics Project Manager

You will play a key role in managing our bioinformatics platform capabilities and projects. An ideal candidate should have leadership skills and engage in collaborative and thoughtful conversations, working cross-functionally within Invitae and with end-users to build and deliver projects that ultimately deliver results. The candidate will work with teams across the company to optimize bioinformatics software solutions that work seamlessly to deliver genomic insight to patients at scale.
Responsibilities:
- Work cross-functionally with bioinformaticians, software engineers, and scientists to complete projects/initiatives intersecting with Bioinformatics Org.
- Help establish and implement Jira based project intake & execution plans.
- Maintain coherent timelines for sophisticated projects/initiatives involving multiple teams
- Provide feedback and/or direction to bioinformatics partners during project/task planning which is technically resolute.
- Oversee operational management for all the projects in collaboration with Bioinformatics team leads and principal contributors.
- Ensure timelines, deliverables, changes in scope, and collaborator needs are communicated to all appropriate team members.
- Setup communication channels and meeting cadence to swiftly gather requirements and timely execution of projects
- Synthesize and integrate information from multiple sources, make a decision, develop, and execute plans in consultation with Product Managers and/or Directors
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years experience. Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
- Proven knowledge of human genetics, molecular biology, and NGS techniques used in bioinformatics and lab processes
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish solid relationships and elicit cooperation from a variety of partners
- Outstanding analytical and strategic problem-solving skills
- The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic environment. Flexible to shifting priorities, demands, and timelines; able to promptly and efficiently react to project adjustments and changes
- Exquisite attention to detail and organization
- Experience working in cross-functional teams, especially with software engineers, bioinformaticians, and scientists
- Familiarity with agile processes
- Experience managing molecular diagnostic assay / genetic test development and validation projects under design control and in compliance with CAP/CLIA and/or FDA regulations is a plus

$95,600—$119,500 USD
