At AKS, we are growing and building for the future. We bring together multidisciplined experts across the land development, energy, and infrastructure markets to take on bigger challenges and deliver solutions that make a real difference. Our teams combine creativity, technical excellence, and a collaborative, hands-on approach to solve complex problems and deliver results our clients and communities can count on. We take pride in our work and our ability to provide opportunities for our teams, support each other’s growth, and look ahead to what’s next. When you join AKS, you will find opportunities to take ownership of meaningful projects, learn, lead, and make an impact from day one.
This is an opportunity to sit at the center of complex energy and infrastructure projects and help turn development strategy into execution. As a Project Manager within our Pre-Construction Services group, you’ll work alongside developers, owners, utilities, and project stakeholders during the critical phases of energy project development. This role focuses on pre-construction planning, feasibility, cost and schedule development, risk identification, and project management across a range of power generation and energy infrastructure projects, including utility-scale solar PV, battery energy storage, wind, and other renewable and conventional generation assets.
The ideal candidate will be based in Las Vegas, NV, but we are open to considering highly qualified candidates in other locations for a remote opportunity.
What You’ll Do- Lead pre-construction planning efforts for renewable energy, power generation, and related infrastructure projects on behalf of developer and owner clients.
- Support project development, site selection, and due diligence activities with a focus on site feasibility, power availability, interconnection, permitting, constructability, and development risk.
- Develop and evaluate conceptual project strategies for solar PV, battery energy storage, wind, and other power generation and energy infrastructure projects.
- Prepare and validate early-stage cost models, budgets, schedules, and phasing plans for complex energy and infrastructure scopes.
- Coordinate with utilities, grid operators, permitting agencies, AHJs, engineering firms, and other stakeholders to assess project feasibility, timelines, constraints, and development requirements.
- Lead constructability reviews and risk assessments to identify early challenges related to scope, logistics, permitting, procurement, construction, and market conditions.
- Advise clients on delivery models, including EPC, design-build, phased packages, early works, and other project execution strategies.
- Review conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs to ensure alignment with project goals, constructability, cost, schedule, and long-term operational objectives.
- Develop decision-support materials, executive briefings, and recommendations to guide investment and development milestones.
- Support the transition from pre-construction into construction by defining scopes, bid packages, procurement strategies, and execution plans.
- Assist with late-stage permitting, procurement, and EPC coordination on behalf of the owner.
- Manage multiple projects and workstreams simultaneously while maintaining clear communication with clients, internal teams, and project stakeholders.
- You have a "Do what needs to be done" mindset, taking ownership beyond assigned tasks and stepping in wherever needed to keep projects, teams, and customers supported and moving forward.
- You have 5+ years of experience managing or supporting complex energy, infrastructure, or power generation projects, with experience in pre-construction and front-end development strongly preferred.
- You have experience working on utility-scale renewable energy or power generation projects, such as solar PV, battery energy storage, wind, or other generation assets.
- You understand the development and pre-construction lifecycle, including feasibility, site evaluation, interconnection, permitting, design, estimating, scheduling, procurement, and construction planning.
- You have a strong understanding of construction means and methods sufficient to inform constructability, cost, schedule, and execution decisions during pre-construction.
- You’re highly organized and comfortable managing multiple workstreams with competing priorities and shifting project requirements.
- You are comfortable working directly with developers, owners, utilities, EPC contractors, engineers, and other project stakeholders.
- You have excellent analytical, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex project information into clear recommendations for clients and leadership.
- You are willing to travel periodically to project sites, client locations, and industry meetings as needed.
- Experience developing and managing complex project schedules using tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar.
- Strong familiarity with project management and construction management systems such as Procore, SAP, or similar platforms.
- Experience developing or reviewing project financial models, cost estimates, budgets, and commercial assumptions.
- Strong analytical skills related to energy markets, project economics, pricing, supply chain risk, and market trends.
- Experience with utility-scale solar PV, BESS, wind, or other renewable and power generation technologies.
- Experience navigating utility interconnection processes, transmission and distribution infrastructure, or grid development.
- Experience working as an owner’s representative, developer, utility, EPC contractor, engineering firm, or other organization supporting the development and delivery of energy infrastructure.
- Existing relationships with developers, utilities, EPCs, engineering firms, or other stakeholders within the renewable energy and power generation industry.
- Based in Las Vegas, NV, or willing to work remotely with the ability to travel regularly to project sites and client locations.
