A Day in the LifeProject Manager to lead or leverage cross functional teams to evaluate, develop and manage projects for new product development and ongoing lifecycle management of products, processes and therapies.
  • Strategic Leadership: Provide strategic oversight and direction for complex, high-impact programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, long-term business strategy, and cross-functional priorities.

  • Program Ownership in Ambiguous Situations: Lead multiple high-level programs where goals, resources, and conditions may be unclear or subject to change. Make well-informed decisions amidst ambiguity and drive clarity through leadership, prioritization, and resource alignment.

  • Focus on Sustaining Engineering/Released Product Management: Play a critical role in sustaining engineering or released product management by driving post-launch product support and optimization initiatives. Ensure products remain competitive and compliant through continuous improvement, lifecycle management, and addressing evolving customer or regulatory needs.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Act as a strategic liaison between cross-functional teams, including Released Product Management, Sustaining Engineering, R&D, Operations, Quality, and Regulatory Affairs. Foster strong collaboration to support ongoing product maintenance, product quality improvements, and compliance updates.

  • Adaptable Program Execution: Manage the lifecycle of complex, cross-departmental projects, including new product initiatives, sustainability efforts, and product lifecycle management. Maintain a flexible approach to project execution, adapting strategies as necessary to accommodate evolving business needs or shifting priorities, with a strong focus on sustaining product integrity.

  • Risk Management and Problem Solving: Proactively identify potential risks, resource gaps, and organizational bottlenecks, particularly in the context of sustaining existing products. Develop risk mitigation plans and contingency strategies to address challenges while maintaining momentum and focus on key strategic objectives.

  • Executive Communication and Influence: Regularly communicate program status, milestones, and challenges to senior leadership and key stakeholders. Leverage storytelling and data-driven insights to advocate for strategic adjustments, resource allocation, and decision-making that align with long-term goals.

  • Drive Business Impact: Identify and act on opportunities to optimize program outcomes with a particular focus on Released Product Management or Sustaining Engineering projects. Use data and key performance indicators (KPIs) to guide decisions and ensure measurable improvements in product reliability, compliance, and customer satisfaction.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, with preference for degrees in business, engineering, or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 7+ years of relevant project management experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience leading complex, strategic programs.

  • Strategic Focus: Proven experience leading large-scale programs with a focus on strategic decision-making, resource management, and long-term business planning, particularly in the context of product lifecycle or sustaining engineering.
  • Thrives in Ambiguity: Demonstrated ability to lead effectively in environments of uncertainty and change, with the capability to define clear paths forward, set strategic priorities, and drive results despite unclear or evolving circumstances.
  • Sustaining Engineering/Released Product Management Expertise: Direct experience in sustaining engineering or released product management, with a strong understanding of post-launch product support, lifecycle management, and addressing compliance or quality challenges.
  • Influence without Authority: Strong influence management skills, capable of working collaboratively with cross-functional leaders and stakeholders at all levels to build consensus and alignment.
  • Analytical and Financial Acumen: Ability to analyze complex business situations, synthesize information, and apply insights to develop program strategies, financial forecasts, and risk assessments.
  • Change Management Expertise: Experience driving organizational change, managing transitions, and navigating the impacts of industry, market, or technology shifts on ongoing programs.
  • Experience working across global teams and matrixed organizations.

For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$142,400.00 - $213,600.00


This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).

The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).

 

The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees: Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums).

 

Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns.  Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan. Please note some of the above benefits may not apply to workers in Puerto Rico.
