At E Source, we help utilities make sense of complexity in a rapidly changing landscape, and we're looking for a Project Manager to help shape how that impact shows up in the world.

As a Project Manager, you'll lead complex utility technology initiatives for electric, gas, and water clients. Engagements may include AMI (advanced metering infrastructure) feasibility studies, business cases, planning, procurement, implementation, and deployment support. You'll be responsible for planning and coordinating projects from initiation through implementation, balancing scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks, vendors, and client expectations. Our AMI engagements span the full implementation lifecycle and may include solution design, system integration, testing, meter and network deployment, operational readiness, change management, and transition to ongoing operations. You'll work closely with utility executives and project teams, E Source technical specialists, AMI and software vendors, system integrators, and field deployment contractors to keep programs aligned and moving forward.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead day-to-day project management for complex AMI and related utility technology initiatives.

  • Develop and manage integrated project plans, schedules, budgets, milestones, dependencies, resources, and deliverables.

  • Coordinate activities across client teams, E Source subject matter experts, AMI vendors, system integrators, field deployment contractors, and other third parties.

  • Manage project risks, issues, decisions, actions, assumptions, and changes, driving timely resolution and escalation as appropriate.

  • Facilitate project meetings, executive updates, workshops, and cross-functional working sessions.

  • Monitor vendor performance and contractual commitments, including milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and acceptance activities.

  • Coordinate across AMI workstreams such as meter and network deployment, systems integration, testing, data readiness, operational readiness, and customer-facing activities.

  • Provide clear, decision-oriented reporting on project status, schedule, budget, risks, issues, and upcoming decisions.

  • Maintain effective project documentation and governance, while building trusted client relationships and identifying opportunities to provide additional value.

  • Forecast project resource needs and maintain resource bookings, and monitor project financial performance to support accurate, timely monthly client invoicing and revenue forecasting.

You’re likely a great fit if you:

  • Are skilled at coordinating complex, cross-functional technology implementations involving utility business teams, IT and/or OT organizations, vendors, system integrators, and field resources.

  • Bring strong facilitation skills and can communicate effectively with executives, technical teams, business stakeholders, vendors, and field personnel.

  • Can identify emerging project challenges, develop practical courses of action, facilitate decisions, and drive issues through resolution.

  • Act as an effective bridge between business, operational, and technical teams.

  • Are comfortable working independently in environments where all information may not yet be available, and can maintain momentum across complex initiatives.

  • Work effectively in hybrid, virtual, and in-person environments, collaborating with geographically distributed client and project teams.

And even better if you:

  • Have a PMP or comparable project-management certification.

  • Have experience with Microsoft Project or comparable scheduling tools.

  • Have experience across multiple phases of the AMI lifecycle.

Experience and Skills to Qualify Include:

  • Five or more years of project or program management experience within the utility industry.

  • Demonstrated experience managing or supporting an advanced metering infrastructure implementation for an electric, gas, or water utility.

  • Working knowledge of AMI program components such as meters and endpoints, communications networks, head-end systems, meter data management systems, systems integration, testing, deployment, data management, and operational readiness.

  • Experience managing complex project schedules, budgets, risks, issues, dependencies, changes, and executive reporting.

  • Proficiency with project-management tools and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.

At E Source, you’ll work alongside people who are thoughtful, curious, and deeply knowledgeable about utility and energy systems. We value clarity over jargon, substance over flash, and collaboration over ego. You’ll have the opportunity to grow your skills, contribute to meaningful work, and help shape a company that plays a real role in how the energy future unfolds.

What you can expect

  • Excellent insurance options, including medical, dental, and vision plans; company-paid life insurance; company-paid long- and short-term disability insurance; medical and dependent-care flexible spending plans, and paid parental leave.

  • A flexible time off (FTO) policy that provides paid time away from work, approved by your manager, while ensuring business needs, workload commitments, and appropriate coverage are maintained.

  • A 401(k) plan with a 3% employer match.

The budgeted salary for this position is $140,000 – $170,000 USD + annual bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based on experience.

This role is remote when not traveling to client sites. Travel is dependent on project and client needs (up to 50%).

Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the US or Canada. We’re unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of employment visas or Labour Market Impact Assessments (Cdn) at this time.
