Working within a cross-functional project team, you will coordinate engineering activities from design development through construction and commissioning, collaborating with internal teams, engineering consultants, suppliers, EPC contractors, and other key stakeholders.

This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer with a solid electrical foundation to develop deeper expertise within the rapidly growing battery energy storage industry while taking meaningful ownership of assigned project activities. The position involves up to 25% travel within Canada and the United States to support design verification, construction inspections, and the resolution of project-specific technical issues.

Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the technical execution of utility-scale battery storage projects from design development through construction and commissioning

  • Act as a technical point of contact for assigned projects, coordinating requests and escalating complex issues when required

  • Manage assigned technical scope, engineering schedules, project stakeholders, and deliverables to support successful project execution

  • Develop and review technical specifications and support vendor reviews, supplier qualification, testing, and commissioning activities

  • Support procurement and tendering activities by preparing technical requirements, coordinating supplier information, maintaining technical Q&A logs, and reviewing EPC bidder proposals

  • Coordinate external engineering consultants and support technical coordination and design-review meetings

  • Review and coordinate engineering designs and technical documentation from suppliers, consultants, and contractors, identifying gaps and supporting the timely resolution of comments

  • Conduct site visits to verify that construction and installation activities align with approved designs, drawings, specifications, and quality expectations

  • Provide technical support during construction and commissioning, assisting with the resolution of design, installation, and project-execution issues

  • Review Factory Acceptance Test procedures and reports to confirm alignment with project requirements

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • An educational background in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant technical experience

  • At least two years of project engineering, systems engineering, or related technical experience, ideally supporting utility-scale energy, power, or electrical infrastructure projects

  • General understanding of low- and medium-voltage electrical systems, including electrical installation design, cable sizing, short-circuit and load-flow analysis, protective-device coordination, and arc-flash studies

  • Ability to interpret and review engineering drawings, technical specifications, and project documentation

  • General knowledge of grid-interconnection requirements and applicable renewable energy and energy storage codes and standards, including UL, NFPA, IEEE, NETA, NERC, and relevant regional market requirements

  • Ability to travel up to 25% within Canada and the United States, including occasional multi-day site visits

  • Experience with utility-scale battery energy storage systems, lithium-ion battery technology, medium-voltage substations, or renewable energy projects is considered an asset

  • Knowledge of balance-of-plant systems, including UPS systems, fire detection and suppression, HVAC, and auxiliary electrical systems, is considered an asset
