Are you looking to use your engineering capabilities, project management and collective skills in your next position? We could use your expertise on our team! As a Project Engineer II you will be responsible for managing project activities throughout the product lifecycle, from initial design concepts to final delivery. This role requires a strong technical background, project management skills, and the ability to interface with both internal teams and external customers to ensure successful project execution.

Responsibilities:

Digital Thread Architecture & Strategy

  • Design and own the program's end-to-end digital thread architecture, defining how engineering data flows and is governed across the full product lifecycle.
  • Develop the program's digital engineering integration strategy, identifying which tools must be connected, what data must flow between them, and in what direction.
  • Evaluate emerging digital engineering tools and integration patterns; recommend adoption where they strengthen lifecycle traceability or data interoperability.

Tool Integration & Data Interoperability

  • Architect and implement integration between PLM, MBSE/SysML, CAD, simulation, and manufacturing systems, including API design and middleware where needed.
  • Coordinate with tool owners and vendors to resolve interoperability gaps and maintain stable, supportable integrations as tools are upgraded.
  • Establish data exchange standards and formats so information moves cleanly between disciplines without manual re-entry or translation loss.

Requirements & Design Traceability

  • Establish and maintain end-to-end traceability from requirements through MBSE models, design artifacts, manufacturing data, and test results.
  • Define the traceability architecture that links requirements management tools (DOORS, Jama, or equivalent) to MBSE models and downstream design data.
  • Support change impact analysis by ensuring that a change anywhere in the thread can be traced to every dependent artifact.

Data Governance & Configuration Management

  • Define and enforce data governance policy for the digital thread — authoritative source of truth, data ownership, and access control across tools.
  • Establish configuration management practices for digital engineering data consistent with program CM policy and customer data rights requirements.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation of the digital thread architecture, data lineage, and integration points for program and customer review.

Program Interface & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for digital thread and digital engineering integration matters with program management and government customers.
  • Coordinate with the MBSE Engineer(s), systems engineering leads, and IT infrastructure to ensure the digital thread is properly hosted, secured, and supported.
  • Present digital engineering maturity, integration status, and traceability posture at program reviews and customer technical interchange meetings.

Qualifications The Employee Must Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, or a closely related technical field.
  • 10+ years' experience in engineering roles with at least 2+ years in a leadership role.
  • Hands-on experience integrating PLM systems (Teamcenter, Windchill, or equivalent) with MBSE/SysML tools (Cameo Systems Modeler, Rhapsody, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience establishing requirements-to-design-to-test traceability across multiple connected engineering tools.
  • Working knowledge of model-based systems engineering concepts and SysML, sufficient to architect around MBSE data rather than build models personally.
  • Experience with data architecture, APIs, or integration middleware connecting engineering tools and systems.
  • Familiarity with configuration management practices and data rights/access control for engineering data.
  • Strong technical documentation and stakeholder communication skills, including the ability to present integration architecture to non-technical program leadership.

 Qualifications We Prefer

  • 4-6 years relevant leadership and/or project management experience.
  • Experience with advanced project management tools and methodologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
  • Experience leading a multi-disciplinary design and development team and communicating with program management and customers.
  • Familiarity with preparation and development of project estimates, technical proposals, and program cost and schedule management.
  • Past history of leading baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of highly integrated trade studies and analysis of alternative.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics, parts lists, specifications, instructions and test procedure.
  • Experience or certification in International Council on Systems Engineering (INCOSE) standard.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
  • Direct experience with Teamwork Cloud, Windchill, Cameo Systems Modeler, Jama, or 3DExperience.
  • Familiarity with the DoD Digital Engineering Strategy and digital twin concepts as applied to a program-of-record environment.
  • Experience in an Aerospace & Defense or other regulated program environment.
  • INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) or Associate Systems Engineering Professional (ASEP) certification.
  • Familiarity with model-based engineering standards (ISO/IEC/IEEE 15288, UAF, or equivalent).
  • Experience supporting ATO/RMF documentation for digital engineering tooling and data environments.
  • Active DoD Top Secret clearance or higher.

Essential Functions:

  • Occasional travel to customer or field locations may be required.
  • Ability to work primarily in an office or hybrid environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
  • Prolonged periods of working on a computer.
  • Hand and finger dexterity for computer use.
  • Capability to work in potentially hazardous environments when visiting project sites.

This posting will be open for application for a minimum of 5 days and may be extended based on business needs.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $165,010.21 - $226,889.04.
