Ameresco is seeking a Project Developer to assist with the development of an energy solutions portfolio in Alaska, which includes projects involving thermal plants, hydropower plants, fuel cells, geothermal, solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and electrical infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

  • Identifies, filters, and prioritizes new opportunities to minimize cost and risk to the group; conducts due diligence, analyzes merits and risks of new opportunities, and prepares presentations to support management approval of proposed transactions.

  • Support project development and collaborate on tasks including permitting, regulatory compliance, interconnection, technical solutions, pricing, and scheduling.

  • Work with Business Development to foster key relationships and develop opportunities.

  • Perform energy savings calculations and initial power generation models to support preliminary assessments of opportunities.

  • Acts as one of the Project Team's representatives to customers, landowners, officials, and vendors, preparing presentations, updates, and key deliverables.

  • Coordinates regular project meetings to share updates, address challenges, and align priorities across multidisciplinary teams; fosters accountability and structure in workflows; ensures diverse subject matter experts contribute effectively.

  • Assist with project development tasks, including site layout, interconnection, financial modeling and funding, marketing, execution of key contracts, and completion of required development checklists.

  • Monitors fundamental market conditions and drivers impacting the main energy markets as related to Federal customers in North America; gathers intelligence and uses it to inform Team strategy.

  • Build constructive and efficient business relationships at all levels and stages of the project. Establish and maintain strong stakeholder relations

  • Carry out additional tasks as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline; or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible project development experience with emphasis in large project development, project finance, utility regulation, or other related infrastructure development.

Additional Qualifications:

  • MBA or master's degree preferred.

  • Ability to apply broad business perspectives to project development and daily operations.

  • Ability to understand critical technical specifications. 

  • Strong analytical and interpersonal skills. 

  • Familiarity with Alaska markets

  • Experience with power plant development and installation is preferred.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and foster positive business relationships.

  • Strong verbal, written, computer, technical communication and presentation skills.

  • Proficient computer skills including MS Word, Excel, Project, Procore.

  • Scheduling experience using Microsoft Project schedule, Primavera P-6 preferred.

  • Valid Drivers’ License in good standing, issued by resident state.
