Overview 

FMI’s Training Institute Programs Practice is seeking an experienced and collaborative Programs Director to provide strategic and operational leadership across our existing portfolio of experiential learning programs. For more than 70 years, FMI has partnered with organizations across the built environment to develop exceptional leaders and build stronger, more profitable businesses.

 

The Programs Director plays a critical role in ensuring the quality, consistency, and strategic growth of FMI’s experiential offerings. The Programs Director will have direct oversight of three core programs: the Project Managers Academy (PMA), the Construction Executives Institute (CEI), and the Emerging Managers Institute (EMI). This position will oversee program execution, financial performance, and team development across these programs, while driving innovation in content, delivery, and client experience. Additionally, the Programs Director will progressively take on a greater role in program delivery, including facilitating sessions across FMI’s experiential offerings.

 

This is a regular, full-time position based in either our Denver, CO or Raleigh, NC office. The Programs Director can expect to travel approximately 30–50% of the time for onsite program delivery and team engagement.

 

**Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. FMI is unable to provide visa sponsorship—including H-1B or STEM OPT—at this time.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic vision and leadership for FMI’s experiential programs, ensuring alignment with firmwide strategy and client needs.
  • Oversee program execution across all offerings, maintaining consistent quality, content, and client experience.
  • Lead, coach, and develop Program Operations Managers, Coordinators, and subcontracted staff.
  • Manage program financials, including forecasting, budgeting, and expense oversight.
  • Partner with Sub Practice Lead and Marketing to design and execute business development initiatives and client campaigns.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to continuously enhance content, delivery, and operational systems.
  • Maintain strong relationships with facilitators and client partners to ensure outstanding participant outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities for innovation and efficiency to scale FMI’s program impact.
  • Participate in facilitation and content refinement

 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, education, or a related field required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in program management, organizational development, or leadership development, including direct team leadership.
  • Proven experience managing complex programs or business units with multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee budgets and achieve financial performance goals.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem solving, and communication skills.
  • Experience in facilitation, coaching, or leadership training preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Salesforce, NetSuite, and Cvent.
  • Ability to work effectively in dynamic, fast-paced, and ambiguous environments.
  • Ability to lift 50-100 lbs. program material containers with support.

 

Compensation Information:

  • Base salary starts at $121K plus annual bonus.
