The summary above was generated by AI

Ursa Major was founded to address a critical shortfall in the U.S. industrial base and bring a new model to aerospace and defense systems: we design and manufacture the world’s leading propulsion systems for space, hypersonic applications, and missile systems.

Our products and technologies require an extraordinary team – a team that will mold tomorrow’s technologies while deploying today’s best. We are an intrinsically motivated team that has a passion for solving problems and empowering each other every day to develop our skills, knowing that there is always room for growth.

Ursa Major’s team moves fast and does a lot with little. The Engine Program Manager is a leader who coordinates schedules, hardware, resources, and overall project progress to ensure our programmatic success. The Program Manager thrives when creating order out of chaos, owns execution through the product lifecycle, can excel as a technical liaison, and can bring together complex technical and operational inputs to meet program milestones.

Responsibilities:

  • Manages internal engine program coordination, from initial program plan definition through ultimate mission success.
  • Responsible for defining program objectives and aligning resources required to execute
  • Owns the engine program Integrated Master Schedule (IMS). Responsible for pulling inputs from across the company and re-baselining as changes occur.
  • Owns evaluation of technical and program risks/opportunities, drives mitigations of risk and realization of opportunities
  • Identifies and helps realize program or product opportunities to strengthen the business
  • Coordinates with owners throughout the business to consolidate program technical and operational objectives, while driving program progress and on-time delivery throughout the engine lifecycle.
  • Coordinates with internal stakeholders to ensure timely production of engine hardware to support company schedules and deliverables.
  • Collaborates with team members to write, review, and deliver technical deliverables. Includes systems engineering requirements, change requests, risk definitions and mitigation plans, nonconformance reports, and data reviews.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in complex environments such as aerospace or other highly technical programs
  • Passion for creatively developing a program plan despite resource constraints and flexibility to adapt as inputs rapidly change
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, startup environment
  • Adaptive and introspective, willing to learn, teach, lead, and follow

Desired Experience:

  • Strong understanding of aerospace industry standards and requirements
  • Demonstrated success in complex program definition and management
  • Liquid propellant rocket engine experience
  • Prior experience as a program manager, project engineer, or team lead in a production or manufacturing role, managing schedules and delegating tasks
  • Technical expertise in manufacturing, design, test, analysis, or integration
  • Problem solving skills and knowledge of program management tools and procedures
  • Excellent oral and communication skills
