This role reports to Operations Manager.

Abou the Role:

The Operations Supervisor will be responsible for daily and weekly scheduling, collaborating closely with the Operations Manager to prioritize tasks efficiently. Additionally, they will play a crucial role in developing training plans, providing oversight to coating and fabrication processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. The successful candidate will have a keen eye for optimizing operations, excellent organizational skills, and a strong ability to lead and inspire a team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize team safety at all times and lead safety improvement initiatives across the facility.
  • Ensure quality standards are consistently met on all products.
  • Participate in Material Review Board (MRB) meetings and implement required processes or dispositions.
  • Set priorities, allocate resources, establish KPIs, and ensure adherence to operational goals.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to develop and adjust daily and weekly production schedules based on changing requirements.
  • Design and implement training plans for new and existing employees; provide ongoing coaching to enhance team performance.
  • Monitor coating and fabrication processes to maintain quality standards and address issues promptly.
  • Ensure effective communication and pass-downs between shifts.
  • Identify and lead opportunities for process improvement and operational efficiency in alignment with Lean principles.
  • Develop and maintain clear, accurate work instructions and ensure proper training on their execution.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement and 5S initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
     

Education and Experience

  • 2+ years of manufacturing experience and/or production planning.
  • Proven experience managing large teams in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with optical contacting preferred.
  • Experience with clean room and ESD-safe environment constraints.
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or a related field preferred but not required
  • Experience working and/or certifications in a Lean manufacturing environment preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills, including coaching and mentoring.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage resources effectively.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Teams.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and ability to lead safety initiatives.
  • Understanding of quality control principles and corrective/preventive actions.
  • Ability to develop and implement training programs.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to interpret and implement Material Review Board dispositions.
  • Familiarity with 5S and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Attention to detail for monitoring coating and fabrication processes.
  • Ability to create and maintain clear, accurate work instructions.

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

  • Bend as is necessary for sitting, using computers, using the telephone, and computer mouse
  • Demonstrate eye-hand coordination
  • Operate testing and measuring equipment
  • Apply force to adjust and operate testing equipment, turn knobs and cranks
  • Manipulate fragile parts into and out of equipment
  • Grasp objects in order to turn, wipe, adjust instrumentation and safely use sharp instruments
  • Twist and turn wrists and forearms to perform inspection of optics and to operate microscopes and computer
  • Bend at the neck to perform inspection and testing of optics and related equipment
  • Exposure to minimal fumes from alcohol and acetone (used when cleaning coating equipment and optics).

Additional Requirement:

Compensation & Benefits:
The pay range for this position is $74,200-$111,400. This position may be eligible for performance-based bonus plan.

Total Rewards

The compensation range for this position is $74,200.00 - $111,400.00, depending on experience. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
