Job Description

We're hiring a Product Owner to lead implementation and value delivery for Eforms—covering Tax Withholding (federal, state, and local) and the Compliance Library (dynamic, configurable onboarding and regulatory forms). You will partner with engineering, design, compliance/legal, content operations, customer success, and go‑to‑market teams to translate strategy into a clear backlog and ship high‑quality, compliant experiences that customers love. You will work with changing priorities, multiple teams, and manage issues before they become problems. You will bring creative and strategic solutions to the table, help be a player in the evolving process, and challenge current thinking. For this position, you will work remotely and report to the Director of Product Management.

What you'll do:

Product Strategy and Delivery:

  • Manage and refine the Eforms roadmap, balancing near‑term delivery with strategic investments.
  • Translate problems into outcomes by defining epics, user stories, acceptance criteria, and a transparent, prioritized backlog (e.g., RICE/WSJF).
  • Deliver value iteratively through MVPs, feature flags and rollouts, release notes, and adoption enablement with Customer Success.

Agile leadership and facilitation:

  • Engage the right partners and perspectives, facilitating collaboration within and beyond Scrum events.
  • Lead Sprint Planning, Reviews, and Retrospectives that encourage healthy critique, learning, and continuous improvement.
  • Create forums for idea‑sharing (pairing, spikes, brown bags) to use team strengths and improve outcomes.

Team cohesion and relationships:

  • Build cross‑functional relationships across engineering, design, content ops, compliance/legal, and Go To Market, making dependencies visible for predictable delivery.
  • Foster team cohesion by exploring diverse perspectives, asking deliberate questions, and surfacing and resolving conflict early.
  • Apply commercial and product knowledge by connecting backlog decisions to customer value, risk, and revenue .
  • Partner with finance, sales, and customer success to validate assumptions and align product decisions with business and client goals.

Coach, feedback, and Agile mindset:

  • Provide balanced feedback and coach teams on Agile practices (story slicing, DoR/DoD, empirical planning).
  • Model and promote Agile principles, allowing teams to improve over time.

Domain leadership:

  • Lead Eforms domain areas, including Tax Withholding (W‑4, state/local rules, reciprocity, lock‑in) and the Compliance Library (content lifecycle, auditability, logic, localization, and mobile).
  • Ensure regulatory readiness, quality, accessibility (WCAG 2.2), privacy, security, and performance by partnering across legal, compliance, QA, and content ops. This achieves while driving data-informed decisions through indicators, telemetry, experimentation, and iteration.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 2+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Product Manager delivering software products in an Agile environment, with a record of iterative value delivery.
  • Experience with Agile fluency (Scrum/Kanban): backlog ownership, user story creation, acceptance criteria, story mapping, refinement leadership, and cross‑team coordination.
  • Background in HR compliance, onboarding, employer services, or tax withholding content.
  • Experience being able to translate complex requirements into clear product documentation, roadmap narratives, and sprint-ready user stories.
  • Experience working with changing requirements, demonstrating organization, prioritization, and proactive issue‑spotting.
  • Hands-on expertise with modern product and collaboration tools, including: Jira or Azure DevOps for backlog and sprint management. Confluence for documentation, requirements, and decision histories. Miro or Mural for discovery, workflow mapping, and team collaboration.
  • Familiarity with REST/JSON APIs and tools like Postman to support cross‑functional discussions with engineering.
  • Basic comfort with SQL to query data for validation and insights.
  • Understanding of microservices, event-driven architecture, CI/CD workflows, feature flags, and cloud environments (Azure preferred).
  • Awareness of WCAG accessibility standards, QA automation concepts, and secure‑by‑design practices.
  • A desire to facilitate team cohesion, contributing to Agile ceremonies and promoting productive team relationships.
  • Openness to exploring commercial considerations behind product decisions.

Additional Information

Benefits/Perks:

  • Great compensation package and bonus plan
  • Core benefits including full medical, dental, vision, and matching 401K
  • Fully remote environment
  • Flexible time off including volunteer time off, vacation, sick and paid holidays
