Product Operations Lead

Virta Health is on a mission to reverse Type 2 diabetes and obesity in a billion people. Current treatment approaches aren’t working—over half of US adults have either type 2 diabetes or obesity. Virta is changing this by helping people reverse type 2 diabetes and obesity through innovations in technology, personalized nutrition, and virtual care delivery reinvented from the ground up. We have raised over $350 million from top-tier investors, and partner with the largest health plans, employers, and government organizations to help their employees and members restore their health and live diabetes-free. Join us on our mission to reverse diabetes and obesity in 1B!

We are seeking a Product Operations Lead to help us increase development velocity and hone our operating practices.

As our lead for Product Operations, you’ll play a critical role in building the operating rhythm that powers Virta’s product development organization. This role is designed for a highly motivated individual contributor who thrives at the intersection of strategy, process, and execution.

You will establish and drive our planning cadences — from Now/Next/Later roadmaps to quarterly executive readouts — and coach squads to improve their rhythms and decision-making. You’ll also take on high-impact cross-functional projects, partnering with product leadership to ensure we are not only building the right things, but building them in the right way.

This is a unique opportunity to help scale a mission-driven company by shaping how our product organization plans, aligns, and executes.

Responsibilities
  • You’ll know you’ve crushed this role if our development velocity increases, stakeholders consistently know and agree with our Now, Next, Later sequencing and everyone has clarity to the impact that we’ve shipped.

  • Establish and drive Virta’s product planning rhythms using a Now/Next/Later framework, enabling continuous planning, clarity across teams, and alignment with product, design, engineering, and analytics.

  • Facilitate alignment across squad and group leaders by proposing cadences for readouts and updates (e.g., twice-per-quarter stakeholder syncs, quarterly senior management reviews, and quarterly product memos that summarize progress and highlight upcoming focus areas).

  • Coach squads on agile and scrum mechanics — building stronger squad-level autonomy, decision-making, and collaboration, without serving as a scrum master.

  • Improve our line of sight to impact – so that individual features have sensitive, responsive metrics that also ladder up well to our longer range OKRs and KPIs.

  • Lead special projects that increase product org effectiveness, such as:

    • Driving agendas and outcomes for Product Development offsites.

    • Coordinating preparation of product materials for board meetings.

    • Improving org-wide processes (e.g., incident reviews, retrospectives).

    • Partnering with the data team on cross-cutting initiatives like data governance and tooling improvements.

    • Serve as a trusted operational partner to product and development leadership, identifying bottlenecks, surfacing insights, and driving continuous improvement in how the org operates.

You’ll be great for this role if you:
  • Significant experience in Product Operations, Program Management, or a Chief of Staff capacity within a product development organization.

  • Proven ability to design and drive planning cadences at the squad, group, and executive level.

  • Deep understanding of Agile and Scrum mechanics, with experience coaching teams to improve rhythms, velocity, and decision-making.

  • Exceptional facilitation and communication skills — able to create clarity, build alignment, and influence without formal authority.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills; capable of juggling multiple initiatives and ensuring follow-through.

  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with product, design, engineering, analytics, and leadership stakeholders.

  • Hands-on experience with JIRA, Confluence, and Google Workspace; SQL fluency a plus.

You might have previously also
  • Been a Chief of Staff to a CPO/CTO, a former Agile Coach, or a management consultant.

  • Have familiarity with healthcare, digital health, or chronic condition management.

  • Have experience designing and facilitating executive-level reviews or board materials.

Success in This Role

Within your first 6–12 months, success will look like:

  • Virta’s product org is running on a predictable planning rhythm, with clear Now/Next/Later roadmaps and well-structured stakeholder readouts.

  • Squads demonstrate stronger autonomy and consistency in their agile practices.

  • Stakeholders report greater visibility and confidence in delivered impact and forward-looking plans.

  • Offsites, board meetings, and cross-cutting initiatives are executed smoothly, with clear agendas, outputs, and follow-through.

Values-driven culture

Virta’s company values drive our culture, so you’ll do well if:

  • You put people first and take care of yourself, your peers, and our patients equally

  • You have a strong sense of ownership and take initiative while empowering others to do the same

  • You prioritize positive impact over busy work

  • You have no ego and understand that everyone has something to bring to the table regardless of experience

  • You appreciate transparency and promote trust and empowerment through open access of information

  • You are evidence-based and prioritize data and science over seniority or dogma

  • You take risks and rapidly iterate
