How You’ll Make an Impact
The product manager develops specific commercialization plans and activities for specific product(s) or product line(s) to establish, enhance or distinguish product placement within the competitive arena. You will be responsible for developing business plans and product positioning in the marketplace. Partner with Product Marketing to direct market research, competition monitoring and identifies customer needs. Establishes pricing strategies. Works with R&D, manufacturing, sales and marketing to develop new products or enhance existing product(s) or product line(s).
What You’ll Do
Own the end-to-end lifecycle of Gene Synthesis products and services from strategy and roadmap development to launch, iteration, and retirement.
Drive product strategy through deep understanding of customer needs, competitive landscape, and emerging trends in synthetic biology, identifying opportunities for differentiation, growth, and geographic expansion.
Translate market insights into actionable plans, including customer segmentation, pricing models, product positioning, and go-to-market strategies that increase market share and customer satisfaction.
Develop and prioritize clear product requirements, collaborating with R&D, operations, commercial, and digital teams to deliver scalable, high-quality services that solve real customer problems.
Lead cross-functional project teams to introduce new products, optimize existing workflows, and champion continuous improvement across the Gene Synthesis portfolio, including turnaround time, quality, and customer experience.
Act as the internal and external voice of the customer, representing product priorities with stakeholders, supporting sales enablement efforts, and participating in key customer discussions and industry events.
Operate with high autonomy in a matrixed, fast-paced environment—balancing short-term execution with long-term vision—while upholding our Core Values and commitment to excellence.
What You Will Bring
Ph.D. in Molecular Biology or related Life Science degree preferred. Bachelor’s degree required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Molecular Biology, synthetic biology or related life sciences discipline (Required)
3 years of prior experience as Product Manager or involvement in the successful development or commercialization of new products (Preferred)
Demonstrated leadership and partnering skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to deliver scientific podium presentations and generally communicate at peer to peer level with customers.
Ability to work effectively across a large organization and ability to interact with all levels of management.
Experienced and effective communicator in high level customer interactions, including sensitive negotiating and support situations.
Ability to prioritize multiple projects and activities.
Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to tackle new challenges.
Ability to lead teams to overcome issues.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to perform under stress when confronted with emergent, critical, unusual situations, or situation in which working speed and sustained attention are make-or-break aspects of the job.
Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure.

United States Base Compensation: $107,000.00 - $134,000.00The posted pay range for this position is an estimate based on current market data and internal pay structure. Final compensation may vary above or below this range depending on factors such as experience, education (including licensure and certifications), qualifications, performance, and geographic location, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
