Root was founded on the belief that car insurance is broken, and we set out to change it. We’re harnessing the power of technology to revolutionize this archaic, complicated industry. Using machine learning and mobile telematic platforms, we’ve built one of the most innovative insurtech companies in the world.
The Opportunity
At Root, we’re reimagining car insurance by building a smarter, more equitable system from the ground up.
As the Product Manager for Partnerships, you will drive execution across our embedded and distribution partnerships by translating business opportunities into clear, build-ready product work. You’ll sit at the intersection of Business Development, Engineering, and Operations – ensuring that partner-driven initiatives ship with speed, clarity, and quality.
This is an operationally focused product role. You will own the execution layer of partnerships – gathering requirements, defining the solution, driving prioritization and scope conversations, and ensuring delivery across multiple active integrations.
That said, this role may require up to 30% travel, including in-person collaboration with cross-functional teams, meetings with partners, and key company events.
Salary Range: $116,000 - $139,560 (Also eligible for competitive bonus and equity offering)
Root is a “work where it works best” company. Meaning we will support you working in whatever location that works best for you across the US. We will continue to have our headquarters in Columbus, Ohio.
Who You Are
- Client-facing product experience: You have experience working on products that serve business customers or partners (B2B or B2B2C) and have directly interacted with client organizations to gather requirements, conduct discovery, or present product solutions.
- Execution-oriented product operator: You thrive in environments where clarity, decisiveness, and follow-through matter more than big vision decks.
- Partner-minded: You understand that building product solutions for external partners requires precision, responsiveness, and strong cross-functional coordination.
- Requirements-driven: You turn ambiguous partner asks into structured requirements, define multiple viable solution options, and clearly articulate tradeoffs to drive decisions internally.
- Structured communicator: You can document workflows, edge cases, dependencies, and tradeoffs clearly and concisely.
- Detail-obsessed: You catch gaps in logic, misaligned assumptions, and unclear handoffs before they become production issues.
- Calm under pressure: You can manage multiple inbound partner requests without losing prioritization discipline.
- Product management experience: You have 2–4 years of experience in a Product Manager or Associate Product Manager role, building and supporting software products.

- Ensure integrations are high quality, production-ready, scalable, and aligned with Root’s unique right to win.
- Monitor post-launch performance signals and coordinate follow-up iterations where needed.
Cross-functional Alignment & Operations (25%)
- Act as the product point of contact for Business Development and Partner Activation teams.
- Ensure alignment and dependency commitment across product domains (pricing, underwriting, billing and payments, claims, etc) for complex integrations.
- Build and refine systems that improve how partners are onboarded, scoped, tracked, and delivered.
- Develop documentation standards and workflows that reduce ambiguity, rework, and handoff friction.
