These solutions are vital to public safety agencies, which depend on them daily to reduce response times, enhance first responder safety, and streamline essential workflows. Job Description
The product manager is responsible for managing the product roadmap to ensure it aligns with the product strategy, defining customer and user personas, understanding market needs and trends, and driving release processes for Motorola RMS products.
The product manager analyzes the broader portfolio goals and market conditions to lay out a roadmap that is sustainable, differentiated, and delivers unique value, with a keen focus on integrating cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) capabilities into our solutions. The role requires a champion of innovation, leveraging AI tools and methodologies to optimize the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and product operations.
The product manager works in close partnership with the product owner in an external-facing role, responsible for understanding the market, customers, competition, and go-to-market activities. The role of the product manager encompasses a wide range of activities, from strategic to tactical, and provides cross-functional leadership by bridging gaps within the company between different functions, particularly between Development, UI/UX, Sales and Marketing, Deployment, and Support.
Responsibilities
Product Strategy
The product manager is responsible for clearly articulating the business value to the product team so they understand the intent behind the new product or product release. They own the roadmap and must work with the product owner to define, prioritize, and build what matters. Primary responsibilities include:
Manage the roadmap, prioritizing features that offer AI-driven competitive advantages.
Develop business cases, explicitly assessing the ROI and strategic value of AI/ML initiatives.
Identify customer needs and market trends, including emerging AI and GenAI applications in public safety.
Evaluate competitive intelligence, focusing on their adoption and innovation in AI.
Align, track, and drive inter-product dependencies at the roadmap level.
Create business plans and proposals for new initiatives, with a strong focus on AI/ML product proposals.
Product Visioning
The product manager must have the ability to identify and understand customer needs and evaluate those against market size and demand to drive product offerings that will help public safety agencies improve their operations while delivering profitability and customer loyalty. Primary responsibilities include:
Collect, curate, and promote the most relevant ideas into features, particularly innovative AI/ML features that redefine public safety workflows.
Explore new ways of improving existing services and products as a way of increasing profitability, including applying generative AI or machine learning to enhance service efficiency.
Define which ideas should be promoted to features to achieve key objectives for the product line and business.
Solicit feedback and requests from customers and field teams, and ensure this is seamlessly integrated into the product planning and development processes.
Gather customer and sales feedback and the voice of the customer.
Product Development
In this role, the product manager champions the needs of the user, customer, and other stakeholders throughout the development process to ensure that what is delivered meets the goals, objectives, and desired outcomes of the project. Primary responsibilities include:
Develop strong relationships with UI/UX teams and work in close partnership with research and design colleagues, ensuring the ethical and effective deployment of AI features.
Actively involved in initiative and epic creation and refinement, integrating AI tooling into development and analysis processes for efficiency.
Responsible for building, refining, and maintaining the team backlog, including user stories, defects, and research spikes.
Review and prioritize the backlog as part of the preparatory work for release and sprint planning, including coordination of dependencies.
Participate in the appropriate agile ceremonies.
Product Releases
Product managers must plan for what their teams will deliver and when they will deliver it. The product manager owns the release aspect of the product. Release responsibilities include managing features and dependencies in and across releases, product and support teams, and managing releases with phases and milestones. Primary responsibilities include:
Establish vision and goals for sprints and releases, including AI/ML model deployment and monitoring strategies.
Track product success through metrics and KPIs, and define metrics for AI/ML feature performance and impact.
Help define the market offer and structure.
Work with enablement organizations to make products orderable and deliverable.
Define and support the implementation of training, support, and deployment requirements.
Manage risks and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality, particularly those related to data, bias, and fairness in AI/ML solutions.
Coordinate overall release project and schedule.
Go-to-Market Support
Responsible for making product decisions and often acts as the lead resource for the rest of the organization when deep product expertise is required. This includes supporting the organizations that help bring the product to market and work directly with customers, including marketing, sales, training and support services. Primary responsibilities include:
Facilitate sales and channel training, including training on the value proposition of new AI capabilities.
Assist pre-sales with custom project requests.
Define and ensure implementation of go-to-market assets, including demo environments, training materials, and presentations.
Demonstrate new pre-release features.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
4+ years of Product Management, Product Owner, Engineering/Technical, or Public Safety roles within the software industry.
Firm understanding of software design, user interaction, and user interface design.
Deep technical knowledge in software development methodologies, with a focus on leveraging AI to accelerate and improve the SDLC (e.g., AIOps, MLOps).
Proven experience or strong interest in AI/ML development life cycles and product management for AI-powered solutions.
Extensive experience utilizing business management tools such as Google Workspace, MS Office, Tableau, etc.
Extensive experience utilizing product and project management tools such as Aha! and/or Jira.
Technical knowledge of Cloud services and on-premise technology.
Polished presentation skills for internal and external audiences, with the ability to articulate complex AI concepts into clear business value.
Proactive, enthusiastic attitude toward challenging problems.
Capable of quickly evaluating and prioritizing new projects alongside customer feedback, especially for novel AI applications.
Ability to research and analyze project requirements from various stakeholders.
Ability to understand market trends, financial data, and customer needs and assess competitive intelligence data.
Build consensus among stakeholders.
Ability to work well independently and as part of a diverse team spread across multiple continents in a fast-moving environment.
Ability to multitask among various assignments.
Sound understanding of National Incident-Based Reporting Standards.
This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justice's "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent fingerprint background check administered by Motorola Solutions Inc. customers

Target Base Salary Range: $110,000 - $130,000 USD
