Position Description: 

As a Product Manager Summer Intern for CarMax you will have the opportunity to shadow a CarMax Senior Product Manager and also lead your own Product Team over 10-weeks to create an innovative digital product for our customers. Throughout the internship you will be supported by a cross-functional team of mentors that will help ensure the success of your team and your personal development. At the end of the internship you will have launched a live product, identified and solved a problem for our customers or Associates, and had the opportunity to lead and work with a talented and diverse team of fellow CarMax Interns and Associates.

Product Manager Intern candidates should have an entrepreneurial drive, be ready to motivate and inspire a cross-functional team, and have a strong desire to be continuously learning, discovering, and improving. Product Managers at CarMax are problem solvers that strive to deeply understand our customers, use qualitative and quantitative data to uncover opportunities, and aren’t afraid to consider multiple solutions to a problem. It’s OK if you don’t know all the answers – humility and experimentation are key aspects to success. Be prepared to grow your skillset as you are supported by industry leading experts in the fields of Design, Technology, Data Science, and Product.     

 

As a Product Manager Intern, you will spend your time: 
 

  • Acquiring and growing your knowledge of the customer through interviews, surveys, and observations   

  • Learning the CarMax organization and how digital products can create business value for the company   

  • Working alongside an existing product team, you will lead a team of Designers, Engineers, and Analysts to create a digital product that solves a customer problem   

  • Communicating with key leaders from across different areas of the business    

  • Ensuring a successful launch of your digital product   

  • Measuring and monitoring the key analytics of your product post-launch   

  • Participating in the larger CarMax internship program with the opportunity to participate in trainings, attend fun events, meet Senior Executives, and network within the business.   

   

Desired Education and Experience: 

  • Actively pursuing a Bachelors, Masters or post-graduate degree with a focus in Business Management, Product Management, Technology, or related field   

  • Prior eCommerce or Agile work experience a plus, but not required   

 

Work Authorization:  

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
