We’re looking to hire a talented Product Manager, Filler Metals.
The Product Manager, Filler Metals owns the strategy, lifecycle management, and commercial success of the stainless steel and low alloy solid wire portfolio. This role sits at the intersection of marketing, sales, R&D, and operations, translating customer and market needs into profitable growth in a highly competitive, technically driven market.
The ideal candidate combines strong technical understanding of welding consumables with commercial acumen and hands-on product management experience in industrial or metals markets.
Primary Duties
Technical & Application Support
- Provide product expertise on welding processes, alloys, standards (AWS, ASME, ISO), and certifications
- Work with application engineering to define product performance requirements and competitive benchmarks
Product Strategy & Portfolio Management
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of stainless-steel and low-alloy welding wire products, from ideation through launch, optimization, and phase-out
- Manage product positioning, value propositions, and differentiation in a largely commoditized market
- Drive portfolio rationalization and SKU optimization to improve profitability and operational efficiency
Market & Customer Insight
- Conduct market analysis on industry trends, competitive offerings, pricing, and substitution threats
- Gather voice-of-customer input through sales teams, distributors, key accounts, and application engineers
- Identify unmet needs across end-markets such as oil & gas, chemical processing, food & beverage, power generation, and general fabrication
Pricing & Commercial Support
- Develop pricing strategies, list prices, and discount guidelines in coordination with sales and finance
- Support margin management initiatives, including cost-to-serve and value-based pricing
- Create product tools, data sheets, comparison guides, and training materials for sales and distributors
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Partner with R&D and manufacturing on new product development, formulation changes, and cost reduction initiatives
- Collaborate with supply chain to manage availability, forecasts, and lifecycle transitions
- Support marketing campaigns, trade shows, and product launches
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, or a related technical field
- 7+ years of experience in product management, product marketing, or technical marketing within welding consumables, metals, or industrial products
- Strong understanding of stainless-steel alloys, welding processes (MIG, TIG, FCAW), and filler metal applications
- Experience working cross-functionally in a manufacturing or industrial environment
- Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Preferred
- MBA or advanced business degree
- Experience with global or regional product portfolios
- Familiarity with AWS/ISO welding standards and certifications
- Prior experience in a competitive, price-sensitive commodity market

Work Environment
- This position is eligible for Hybrid remote work, with at least 3 days/week in person at the office
- Remains in a stationary position 50% of the time and involves additional physical demands such as ascending/descending stairs, walking stooping and standing.
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment ‘PPE’ when working/visiting manufacturing and plant locations.
- Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery including but not limited to printer, tablets, cell phones.
- May be exposed to varying weather during travel.
- Travel up to 30% (US, Canada and Mexico).
Pay Range:
