Actionstep is a pioneer in the development and sale of software-as-a-service (SaaS) products, specializing in the delivery of Legal Practice Management and Legal Accounting software.  We are a fast growing, dynamic business with a global customer base of more than 50,000 and a team of over 300 in the USA, Australia, UK, Canada and New Zealand.    

Actionstep is expanding its product portfolio and adding richer AI functionality across the platform to deepen customer value, accelerate cross-sell revenue, and introduce new add-on modules that increase competitive differentiation. This role leads the planning, execution and evangelizing of new product creation for our global markets. 

THE PURPOSE OF YOUR ROLE 

The purpose of this senior product leadership role is to define, validate, and deliver new modules that drive cross-sell, increase customer expansion revenue, and attract new customer segments.  

An important part of this role, as a senior leader in the business, is inspiring the product management team and broader Actionstep team with proactive and compelling communication about our product vision and specific product plans - helping us meet our revenue goals with an empowered global team, who believe in the value and impact of our product roadmap. This role ensures Actionstep continues to innovate while bringing commercially successful, scalable, and market-ready products to market.

Your strong cross-functional and stakeholder engagement skills that help you identify market opportunities and influence key decision makers. You enjoy communicating the value of products to internal teams and target customers. You are an adept presenter, conveying passion and empathy for the needs of customers, while remaining a convincing product advocate. You are excited about AI and the possibilities for disruption by new technology. You drive projects to completion, taking ownership of results, and inspiring others to step up to deliver high-quality products to market on-time. 


WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING 

  1. Product Strategy & Portfolio Expansion 
  • Own the end-to-end roadmap for Actionstep’s new product and add-on module portfolio, focusing on innovation and revenue growth 
  • Identify high-value product opportunities through customer insights, competitive analysis, and strategic alignment. 
  • Balance commercial opportunity, customer value, technical feasibility, and time-to-market. 
  • Align an AI-first mind-set with an ambitious product roadmap, our AI Center of Excellence and broader product strategy - leveraging guidance from our AI Senior Product Director, our CPO and CTO to push to competitive differentiation through accelerated innovation. 
  1. Market Discovery & Commercial Validation 
  • Lead rigorous discovery processes to validate market demand, buyer personas, and willingness to pay across our markets. 
  • Partner with Sales, Marketing, and Customer Success to understand expansion drivers and friction points. 
  • Test product concepts through prototypes, pilots, beta programs, and structured feedback loops. 

3. Cross-Functional Launch Excellence 

  • Drive excitement across the business for planned new modules, overall new product roadmap and future vision through regular, energy-building internal updates, customer presentations and partner engagement. 
  • Work closely with product ops and product marketing on product launch KPIs, planning and execution. 
  • Partner closely with CPO, GTM on pricing, packaging, sales enablement, and positioning. 
  • Ensure new modules are introduced with high-quality release processes and measurable adoption targets. 

4. Revenue & Growth Optimization 

  • Define commercial goals for each new module (ARR targets, attach rates, LTV uplift). 
  • Monitor performance and optimize adoption, retention, and expansion using data-driven insights. 
  • Iterate on pricing, packaging, and feature improvements based on GTM feedback to maximize profitability. 

5. Product Execution & Team Leadership 

  • Lead and grow a dedicated PM team of 6 focused on new product development – ensuring Product Managers meet KPIs and deliver on accountabilities, such as domain roadmaps, status updates, PRD creation, discovery exit criteria, sprint planning, product initiative cross-functional check ins.  
  • Work closely with Engineering, Design, and Architecture to deliver scalable, secure, and performant products. 
  • Maintain disciplined prioritization across discovery, delivery, and launch activities. 
  • Take ownership to completion of product initiatives, product management tasks and requests from senior leadership. 

6. Integration & Ecosystem Enablement 

  • Identify integration opportunities that enhance new module value propositions, ensuring no exposure to 3rd party risk. 
  • Identify and scope product partnerships where necessary to accelerate new product capability and /or speed to market. 

7. Product Quality & Customer Validation 

  • Ensure new modules meet high standards of usability, reliability, and workflow alignment. 
  • Maintain strong feedback loops with early customers to validate impact and readiness for general availability. 

8. Board and Executive Communications 

  • Work closely with CPO to deliver materials in support of our monthly and quarterly product updates to Board of Directors 
  • Product presentation materials to support Executive Leadership presentations on product. 
  • Deliver inspiring presentations to internal team, Executive Team, customers, prospects and partners on product roadmap and vision. 

Communication and Community Engagement 

  • Build company excitement and belief in the new product roadmap as part of the role. 
  • Proactive and effective communicator in informal and formal group settings. 
  • Build networks of internal and external champions for new modules and products. 

Relationship Management: 

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with all internal and external parties ensuring transparent, proactive and effective communication always. 
  • Attending and proactively contributing to customer, partner and internal meetings with the view to add value in a constructive manner. 

Professional Development: 

  • Actively looking to build own career through delivery of self and assisted professional development initiatives. 
  • Being a thought leader both within Actionstep but also in the wider industry.  
  • Staying abreast of industry best practice patterns, products and technologies and assisting in process improvement activities as required.

  Proactive in identifying and participating in the continuous improvement of processes and procedures within the ​Product​ Team. 

  • Actively contribute to the development and maintenance of a strong department culture ensuring knowledge and experience is shared.

Requirements

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS 

  • 10+ years product management experience, including launching new products or modules. 
  • Strong commercial acumen; experience with pricing, packaging, and go-to-market planning. 
  • Demonstrated success driving cross-sell or expansion strategies in SaaS. 
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder influence skills. 
  • Legal industry or workflow-intensive SaaS experience advantageous. 
  • Examples of developing AI enhanced products and/or using AI as part of day to day work practices. 
  • Experience leading distributed teams.
