Summary

We’re seeking a mission-driven Product Lead to own the platform and infrastructure strategy behind our clinical test products —focusing on internal systems that power the development, scaling, and delivery of exome sequencing, genome sequencing, and other genomic solutions. This person will identify and build foundational capabilities that enable high-quality, efficient, and scalable test delivery across our clinical portfolio.

You’ll translate product and scientific strategy into core infrastructure and data systems that support operational scale, scientific innovation, and clinical excellence. This role is critical to ensuring our diagnostic products are backed by robust, efficient, and future-ready platforms that accelerate development, reduce costs, and ensure regulatory compliance.

You will be responsible for defining and delivering infrastructure roadmaps that serve cross-functional teams—R&D, Engineering, Lab and Clinical Operations, and Medical Affairs—and enable sustained product performance across accuracy, turnaround time, and scalability.

Job Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the product strategy and roadmap for internal genomic platforms and infrastructure supporting clinical test development and delivery.
  • Translate business and scientific needs into scalable systems that support high-throughput exome and genome processing, annotation, and result generation.
  • Partner closely with R&D, Bioinformatics, Lab and Clinical Operations, and Engineering teams to define infrastructure requirements and coordinate delivery.
  • Drive initiatives that improve platform reliability, data quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness
  • Ensure infrastructure can support clinical and regulatory needs across the test lifecycle, including sample tracking, monitoring, and results reporting.
  • Deliver key artifacts including platform product requirements, development roadmaps, success metrics, and investment cases.
  • Continuously monitor platform performance and define KPIs related to throughput, cost, and product enablement.
  • Deeply understand internal user needs across science, operations, and engineering—becoming a subject matter expert on the infrastructure required to support world-class genomic testing.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • 6+ years of product management or technical product ownership experience, including 2+ years in genomics, bioinformatics, or healthtech infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of genomic workflows, data structures, and tools (e.g., VCF, FASTQ, BAM, GATK, BWA, DeepVariant)
  • Experience working with engineering teams on cloud infrastructure, distributed computing, and data processing pipelines
  • Exceptional ability to translate complex technical requirements into actionable development plans
  • Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Empathy for scientific and technical end users—bioinformaticians, developers, lab and clinical operations, and medical affairs—and a commitment to enabling their success
  • Familiarity with agile development practices, systems design, and platform lifecycle management
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MS, PhD, MBA, MPH) in a technical or life sciences field is a plus

Science - Minded, Patient - Focused.

At GeneDx, we create, follow, and are informed by cutting-edge science. With over 20 years of expertise in diagnosing rare disorders and diseases, and pioneering work in the identification of new disease-causing genes, our commitment to genetic disease detection, discovery, and diagnosis is based on sound science and is focused on enhancing patient care.

Experts in what matters most.

With hundreds of genetic counselors, MD/PhD scientists, and clinical and molecular genomics specialists on staff, we are the industry’s genetic testing experts and proud of it. We share the same goal as healthcare providers, patients, and families: to provide clear, accurate, and meaningful answers we all can trust.

SEQUENCING HAS THE POWER TO SOLVE DIAGNOSTIC CHALLENGES.

From sequencing to reporting and beyond, our technical and clinical experts are providing guidance every step of the way:

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

  • High-quality testing: Our laboratory is CLIA certified and CAP accredited and most of our tests are also New York State approved.
  • Advanced detection: By interrogating genes for complex variants, we can identify the underlying causes of conditions that may otherwise be missed.

CLINICAL EXPERTISE

  • Thorough analysis: We classify variants according to our custom adaptation of the most recent guidelines. We then leverage our rich internal database for additional interpretation evidence.
  • Customized care: Our experts review all test results and write reports in a clear, concise, and personalized way. We also include information for research studies in specific clinical situations.
  • Impactful discovery: Our researchers continue working to find answers even after testing is complete. Through both internal research efforts and global collaborations, we have identified and published hundreds of new disease-gene relationships and developed novel tools for genomic data analysis. These efforts ultimately deliver more diagnostic findings to individuals.
