Product Engagement Manager

We have a strong commitment to building a diverse team. If you’re from a background that’s underrepresented, we’d particularly love to meet you.

About Our Team

Fringe is a fast-growing HR technology company based in Virginia. Founded in late 2018, Fringe is the first ever platform for personalized lifestyle benefits. At Fringe, we are a relentlessly people-focused group revolutionizing the way employers care for their people in the benefits space. We’re a supportive, down-to-earth team, fully committed to the belief that relationships fuel outstanding client experience.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a senior-level individual contributor (5–8 years’ experience) who has spent at least three years owning end-to-end lifecycle programs and consistently uses AI-powered tooling to accelerate that work, plus two years partnering with product teams to run in-product growth experiments. You’ve shipped multi-channel journeys in platforms like Salesforce Marketing Cloud or Braze, know your way around SQL, and can tell a compelling story with data. You'll work side-by-side with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers, owning the end-to-end user-engagement strategy across every product surface—email, in app flows, push and in-app notifications, and emerging channels.

Key Capabilities Required:

  1. Lifecycle Architecture – Designs journeys that branch intelligently across diverse endpoints.
  2. Data & Experimentation – Comfortable owning North-Star metrics, running tests, and explaining causal impact.
  3. Tooling Mastery – Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Appcues, Courier (or Braze, Iterable equivalents), plus SQL/BI fluency.
  4. Cross-Functional Influence – Aligns Product, Engineering, CX, and RevOps on timing, rules, and success metrics.
  5. Content Craftsmanship – Writes persuasive, on-brand copy that respects accessibility & localization.
  6. AI & Automation Fluency – Leverages generative-AI tools, predictive models, and workflow automation to scale personalization and speed experimentation.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
  • Lead Engagement Strategy: Map lifecycle touch-points and craft multi-channel engagement journeys that drive activation, adoption, and retention.
  • Partner in Product Discovery: Participate in problem framing, user research, and prototype testing to identify engagement opportunities early in the product-development process.
  • Design & Run Experiments: Plan A/B and multivariate tests, set success metrics (activation, DAU/MAU, feature usage, revenue impact), and iterate based on insights.
  • Own Tooling & Automation: Configure and optimize Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Appcues, Courier, and future engagement platforms; ensure data flows cleanly across systems.
  • Champion Messaging Craft: Write or review copy, apply brand voice, and ensure accessibility and localization best practices.
  • Measure & Share Insights: Build dashboards, analyze cohort behavior, and communicate findings that inform product roadmaps and go-to-market plans.
  • Scale Best Practices: Create templates, playbooks, and governance to let cross-functional teams launch messaging that’s on-brand, compliant, and measurable.
  • Represent the Voice of the User: Bring qualitative and quantitative feedback into every engagement decision, advocating for user experiences that solve real problems.
  • Continuously Explore AI Use-Cases: Prototype new ways AI can personalize content, trigger journeys, and reveal insights—sharing learnings with the broader team.
Who We’re Looking For:
  • Lifecycle Expert: 3+ years designing and executing multi-channel lifecycle or growth marketing programs for SaaS or consumer web/mobile products.
  • Product-Led Mindset: Comfortable framing problems, sizing opportunities, and prioritizing experiments the way a Product Manager does.
  • Data-Fluent: Proficient with engagement analytics, SQL or BI tools, A/B-testing frameworks, as well as skilled and comfortable using data to influence decisions.
  • Technical Literacy: Enough HTML/CSS/JSON to tweak templates and troubleshoot integrations; familiarity with APIs and event-tracking schemas.
  • Storyteller & Copy Crafter: Able to distill complex ideas into clear, motivating user-facing messages.
  • Collaborative Partner: Thrives in cross-functional environments, balancing user value, stakeholder needs, and technical constraints.
  • Outcome-Driven: Comfort signing up for KPIs and iterating rapidly to meet them.
  • Inclusive & Humble: Values diverse perspectives, learns from failure, and brings a bias toward action without ego.
  • Curious & User-Obsessed: Habitually asks “why,” immerses in user context, and translates insights into actionable engagement hypotheses.
  • Fresh Perspectives Welcome: We welcome applicants from non-traditional product or engineering domains (e.g., behavioral science, education, journalism) who bring unique angles on human motivation.
Holistic Benefits

At Fringe, we care about lifestyle benefits. It’s our entire business! Our desire is to be able to support each and every Fringe employee inside and outside of work. Our benefits include:

  • Competitive salary for all employees
  • Employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance for individuals and families
  • 3% company match on 401(K) retirement contributions
  • Unlimited paid time off (2 weeks minimum/year) as well as paid holidays, volunteer days, wellness days, and parental leave
  • Stock options so you can participate in our success
  • Company-sponsored happy hours and team events (in person and virtually)
  • Your choice of monthly Fringe lifestyle benefits, ranging from TalkSpace, Hulu, and Spotify to child care, meal delivery, fitness, and more.
  • Free access to Doordash DashPass and Masterclass
  • Company wellness program
About Fringe

We built Fringe to give companies a better way to show love and care to their people. Because we believe it’s the people who really matter.

Companies exist because of the products and services they offer, but we believe the people within them should come first. At Fringe, this is the way we live.

Practically this means we hire people who care about their teammates just as much as (if not more than) themselves. We hire people who are genuine, humble, willing to learn, ready to teach, able to adapt, flex, collaborate, celebrate each other, win together and lose together.

We’re a startup, and that means we must be a courageous group. We solve problems all day, but we also mess up sometimes. We extend grace to each other, and we try again. We aren’t looking for perfect people. We’re looking for people who own their faults, play to their strengths, and have the courage to simply be the same person all the time.

If that doesn’t sound like your cup of cold brew, no hard feelings. But that’s exactly who we are and what you can expect when you work at Fringe.

Still interested? We’d love for you to apply.
