Job Description

STARZ Entertainment is seeking a motivated and energetic Product Designer to help design the next generation of direct-to-consumer video streaming experiences within the Digital Platforms team at STARZ. If you are seeking a high-energy environment that prides itself on premium, elegant user experiences and looking to collaborate with like-minded designers, then STARZ is the right place for you to bring your talents.
In this position, you will work closely with BAs, Product Owners and the Developers to design and deliver the best customer experience possible across all STARZ streaming platforms – including native mobile, responsive web, and TV. You will work directly with the Product Owner and BA to break down customer and business problems to discover effective, new solutions. You will participate in ideation via brainstorms and design workshops and produce user flows, wireframes, designs and prototypes to communicate and validate ideas across all STARZ streaming platforms. You will collaborate closely with Engineering and QA throughout the development lifecycle to ensure pixel-perfect fidelity and the intended user experience is delivered before your work is presented to millions of STARZ’ subscribers. This role reports to the Product Design Manager who is dedicated to your professional growth through regular 1:1s, a dedicated training budget, and career pathing into more senior roles.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate possesses strong visual UI design skills, works efficiently with strong attention to detail and is an innovative self-starter with fantastic collaboration skills. They are excited to collaborate to find the best solution for the customer, even if it isn’t their idea, and look to customer research and data to guide those decisions. They have confidence in their designs yet are comfortable receiving constructive feedback in a low-ego environment. Finally, they can balance consistency across devices while accommodating platform and device-specific best practices. Only apply if you have a great attitude and an online portfolio. An online portfolio showcasing a process-driven approach is required for consideration. Please ensure your portfolio includes a minimum of two detailed case studies that demonstrate your process from problem definition and research, through ideation and final design implementation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and continuously improve design systems, component libraries, and other related design documentation.
  • Work closely with Developers, Product Owners, QA and BA’s to make strategic design and user-experience recommendations.
  • Build detailed UX flows to fully demonstrate the desired customer experience.
  • Evaluate the assumptions and goals of features to create and facilitate appropriate UX research (e.g. benchmark testing, usability tests.)
  • Translate wireframes into compelling pixel-perfect renditions that simultaneously address specific practical and technical constraints.
  • Keep a finger on the pulse of UI and UX trends and inspire a culture collaboration and focus on the user.

Experience and Skills:

  • 2+ years of industry design experience on web and mobile apps are essential.
  • Excellent personal time-management skills and comfortable managing multiple projects at once with minimal guidance.
  • A solid grasp of user-centered design (UCD), user research, user testing, A/B testing, rapid prototyping, heuristic analysis, usability and accessibility concerns.
  • Experience in Figma’s suite of products and Adobe CC Product Suite; Experience with After Effects and/or video editing is a plus.
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual presentation skills with the ability to confidently speak about your design solutions from a user-centered perspective.
  • Bachelor’s degree in user-centered design, visual design/graphic design, user experience or related field highly preferred.
  • Experience in the entertainment, programming and/or broadcast industry is preferred but not mandatory.

Compensation:
$100,000-$120,000
