Purpose of Position:

We are seeking a Product Designer with a passion for crafting intuitive software products for the mining industry. As an integral member of the product team, you will drive the design of complex systems used in mining operations, ensuring they are both highly usable and deliver exceptional user experiences. This role combines design expertise with user experience research to deeply understand customer needs, validate concepts, and create solutions that are intuitive and effective. By shaping the design and overall experience for customers, the Product Designer helps deliver products that are easily adopted and loved by customers, driving engagement and satisfaction.

Major Areas of Responsibility:
  • Research and Analysis: Conduct user research to understand the needs, motivations and behaviours of the users. Analyse user feedback to identify pain points and areas for improvement
  • Design & Prototyping: Create wireframes, mockups and prototypes to visualise design concepts as well as test and refine designs based on user feedback and usability tests.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including developers, product managers and other designers to ensure a cohesive and effective design approach.
  • User-centric focus: Prioritise the user's needs and ensuring the final product provides a seamless, intuitive user experience while keep up to date with the latest UX trends, best practices and technologies.
  • Problem solving: Identify design problems and devise elegant solutions as well as balance user needs with business goals and technical feasibility.
  • Design System and Standards: Establish and adhering to design guidelines, best practices and standards as well as ensure consistency in the user experience across various products and platforms.
  • Accessibility and Inclusivity: Design with accessibility in mind to ensure that products are usable by as many customers as possible as well as consider the diverse needs of user in different contexts and environments.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience - Required:
  • Proven work experience (minimum 5 years) as a UI Designer or similar role
  • Portfolio of design projects
  • Knowledge of wireframe tools
  • Mastery of Figma for designing prototypes, mockups, and managing design systems
  • Proficiency of design software like Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Team spirit; strong communication skills to collaborate with various stakeholders
  • Basic understanding of product development processes and technologies
  • Experience in user research, usability testing, and articulating findings to stakeholders
  • Ability to set and meet deadlines including follow up
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and further development of skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness and ability to work in a team environment or work independently as required
Knowledge and Experience - Desired:
  • Previous experience designing for industries like mining, logistics, or other heavy industries is a plus
  • Knowledge of Atomic Design principles and experience maintaining design systems
  • Familiarity with user research platforms like Maze or Lyssna
  • Familiarity with front-end development processes, including a basic understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
Travel:
  • Willingness to travel domestically & internationally to engage directly with customers and teams.
