WHO WE ARE

GridUnity is the industry leader in interconnection life cycle management, delivering cutting-edge software solutions that eliminate bottlenecks in the interconnection process and accelerate the transition to a more affordable, sustainable, and resilient energy future.

Our Mission

We unite all grid interconnection stakeholders on a single platform that converts centralized data into actionable intelligence and accelerates the transition to a reliable, sustainable, and cost-efficient electric grid.

GridUnity is a trusted partner to leading utilities, grid operators, and policymakers. Our technology solutions tackle the interconnection queue backlog by significantly reducing processing times. Whether cutting transmission interconnection timelines from years to months or enabling distribution applications to be processed within a day, we help accelerate energy projects at every scale.

Our Vision
Energizing the planet with a faster, smarter, and more sustainable grid.

About the role

This position reports to the Director of Product Management and will be a core member of the portfolio team. You will be responsible for the end-to-end user experience across an assigned portion of GridUnity’s portfolio of technology products, with accountability for UX quality, coherence, and usability across individual features and the relevant products. You will partner closely with the Product Owners, Engineering, and Customer Experience to design intuitive, coherent journeys that support complex interconnection and planning activities between and across diverse customer segments.

This role is foundational to GridUnity’s customer satisfaction and product strategy as we continue to productize and enhance our platform in the highly regulated and operationally complex customer environments serving the energy sector. You will work alongside GridUnity's existing platform Product Designer, who owns the company-wide design system and UX standards. This role focuses on a dedicated product area within GridUnity's portfolio: you'll design within the design system, contribute patterns back to it, and partner closely on experiences where your products converge with the broader platform.

Key ResponsibilitiesOwn UX quality, coherence, and platform consistency
  • Own the definition and evolution of the user experience across the assigned set of GridUnity’s portfolio of technology products, ensuring clarity, usability, and consistency across technologies, features, workflows, and shared platform patterns.

  • Contribute to and help maintain UX patterns, interaction models, and design standards that support product scalability, reuse, development speed, as well as creating a convergence path to GridUnity’s emerging product platform.

  • Serve as a steward of UX standards and best practices, enabling consistent, high-quality experiences across teams and product areas.

  • Define and track UX success metrics, using qualitative and quantitative insights to evaluate experience quality and inform continuous improvement.

  • Communicate UX insights, risks, and recommendations to leadership to inform product decisions.

Translate insights into experiences
  • Partner with Product Owners to translate product strategy, roadmap priorities, and requirements into clear user flows, wireframes, and prototypes.

  • Collaborate with the Insights team to incorporate market, regulatory, and Voice of Customer insights into experience design.

Lead user-centered discovery and risk identification
  • Plan and conduct user research (e.g., interviews, workflow walkthroughs, usability testing) to validate assumptions and uncover UX risks and opportunities, with an emphasis on real-world workflows, edge cases, and operational constraints.

  • Synthesize findings into actionable design recommendations that inform product decisions.

Partner through delivery and implementation
  • Work closely with Engineering to ensure designs are feasible, well understood, and faithfully implemented, including consideration of edge cases, error states, data availability, permissions, and system constraints.

  • Support iterative delivery through design reviews, feedback cycles, and post-release UX evaluation.

Support platform evolution and long-term UX integrity
  • Help guide UX decisions during platform transitions and major product evolution, ensuring continuity for users while strengthening long-term platform usability and coherence.

  • Balance configurability and standardization to support GridUnity’s productized approach.

  • Ensure platform longevity through documentation, guides, and best practices.

What you will bring
  • 4+ years of experience designing user experiences for complex B2B SaaS platforms or enterprise software solutions

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end UX work (research, flows, interaction design, and delivered product)

  • Experience working closely with Product Management and Engineering in an Agile environment

  • Ability to design for complex workflows, data-heavy interfaces, and expert users

  • Excellent communication skills; able to explain and defend design decisions using evidence

What will set you apart
  • Experience designing products for regulated industries (energy, utilities, infrastructure, government, or similar)

  • Experience with SaaS platforms that balance standardization with customer-specific configuration

  • Experience supporting platform migrations or major product evolutions

  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, scaling organization where processes are evolving to match growth

OUR CULTURE

We are a lean, fast-moving team that values bold thinking, reliability, and continuous learning. We operate with radical transparency, embrace scrappiness, and build solutions that anticipate customer needs. We also believe work should be fun and fulfilling — what we call “funfillment.”

The right candidate is energized by working in a scaling, mission-driven company where they can shape processes, wear multiple hats, and grow alongside the business.

BENEFITS/PERKS

  • Competitive compensation packages that recognize your expertise and contributions

  • Remote-first culture that provides flexibility and balance

  • Professional development opportunities, including training, mentorship, and career pathing

  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance starting day one

  • Short- and long-term disability and basic life insurance at no cost to you

  • 401(k) plan with a 4% match to help secure your future

  • Flexible PTO and a supportive work culture that values balance

  • Mission-driven work with the opportunity to make a significant impact in the energy sector
